In a bit to lively up deez forum, I must ask... Does anyone collect concert photos or have any concert stories to share. I, for one, always hear crazy shit yelled or see something interesting. I'll have to say that I've seen it all... from people having sex in the sixth row of St. Pete Times Forum during a Jimmy Buffett concert, to someone doing a backflip off of a stage and doing some crowd surfing, actually getting away with it, during a Keller Williams concert... Then there was the time a bunch of friends and I got away with smoking two dankass sour diesel honey dutches (given to us for free by a guy who was going to go, but couldn't make it) during a Kottonmouth Kings concert. I didn't really want to go to the concert at first, but then after I got pretty baked, someone told me they saw me all trancing around the mosh pit and then this other guy I knew got knocked over while doing the robot in the middle. Oh yeah, and sharing a J on the lawn with a couple guys I was seated next to in the fourth row (during the allman brothers... we decided to migrate to the lawn to get away from the loudness and security, so it wouldn't be so intense). Ended up seeing the guys later at Trader Joe's and then getting gas at the same gas station the same night. Oh yeah, and of course there are the stories of kind folks like this drunk guy from Boston (I have no idea what his name is) who paid my parking ticket after I realized I left my money at home. Then again, people asked me for acid while walking down a street in Canada... just because I was wearing a tye-dyed shirt. Oh well, I'm thinking about leaving to go see Death Cab For Cutie in five or so, but I don't really feel like shelling out $30. I'm going to see Ziggy Marley on Thursday.
You're the first person on here I've talked to who is seeing the Love Is My Religion tour, that I know of. I love his acoustic version. I'd like to see Ray Lamontagne too, but I don't know if he's making it over this way at the moment. I don't think so, unless it's the 9:30 club in DC. The last time I was going to see Ray Lamontagne was billed with Trey Anastasio on the Zooma tour. I haven't seen Trey since Hampton 2004 and haven't seen Ray Lamontagne at all, as I was pissed for having not yet (still haven't) gotten my refund for the cancelled 2005 tour.
John popper threw me his harmonica in the front row.. and i later got it signed back stage .... been to a lot of insane after partiies in hotel rooms... smoking down in the hallway... people spinnin fire in the parkin lot sing alongs the works hard to think of everything
I know someone in Tennessee who had the same thing happen to them and ended up meeting John Popper and getting it signed.
Damn it how come nothing interesting ever happens to me at concerts. The last concert I saw was CSNY (freedom of speech tour) at Woodstock in August. Route 17 was a parking lot, It got sold out so they were just letting people in for free, I bought my ticket for nothing. The music was really good, but nothing “interesting” happened.
Oh shit, I forgot to mention Crosby, Stills, and Nash often flip onstage and walk off. One time, David threw his guitar in the air and walked off the stage, Stephen started giving some guy the finger, and all of this at the same time when people were screaming Freebird. It gets ridiculous, with those guys, but as long as the douchebags that are often in the gold circle areas shut up, they're damn good musicians who care alot about their fans. I caught Graham and the Croz, backstage before, as well. I like Stephen's newer solo album too... I believe it's called Man Alive. I got that along with Phish '88 Colorado (just had to have the official release of this one), the Phish Live In Brooklyn DVD (I'm going to turn that on in about three minutes, make a cinnamon roll of some sort, and go out for a smoke), Keller & The Keels - Grass, and Gov't Mule's Dose/Self-Titled albums last week. I was very tempted to get a Drive By Trucker's CD and I ordered a couple vinyls (Ani - Reprieve, Neil - Living With War).
I saw weezer a few years back. It was a series of free concerts hosted by an atlanta radio station. Basically they block off the streets in little five points, erect a stage and let everybody see semi/good bands for free while the surrounding bars/shops get tons of business. So anyways, it was weezer playing, they played a lot of their older better material. Sometime enar the end they started to play hashpipe and people went nuts. This guy started climbing up a pole taht supports traffic lights and jumped around 20/25 feet off it into the crowd. It was gettin out of control but fortunately the people in the crowd held thigns down and the cops never had to break it up. That was the over all craziest crowd I've been at but as far as experiences, I've got enough to write a small book.....
That's CSNY for ya. I've been curious about the disco biscuits, but I don't really care for their music, but I figure it's different live and being able to talk to people and chill is always nice if you go to a clubbish kinda deal.
I saw Alice In Chains September 30th in Tulsa OKlahoma....it kicked ass so much...i loved it...and i got picked up in the front row because I was getting crushed by fat asses haha but it was worth it, while I was in the air I swear I could've kicked jerry in the face, I got a shit ton of pictures from front row too...i dont know how to put them in these though....so if you want to see then send me a message
The last concert I went to was Dave Matthews Band with Soulive. Soulive is amazing I had never heard them before. It was a good soundtrack for the downing of Southern Comfort that I participated in. And Dave Matthews Band....words cannot explain how much I love their music. I was so happy that I was there because my friends and I have wanted to go for SO LONG. IT was quite the experience. I smoked so much weed there but it was sketchier than I thought it would be there were cops everywhere...but I was a little too intoxicated to be very stealthy about it. Haha! Tonight in Northampton Citizen Cope is playing and I'm not there! G. Love & THe Special Sauce is in Boston this Tuesday! If you are in the area...BE THERE! Anyone planning on attending Bonnaroo 2007? I would love to make the trip there!
I'm going to G. Love & Special Sauce on Saturday, in Norfolk. And... I was going to see DMB/Soulive, as well as the Allman Bros/Gov't Mule, etc. this Summer, but I wasn't in the country at the time. I'm listening to his lilywhite sessions stuff right now. I'm a big fan of Carter Beauford and I first saw Dave when I was four, over in C-Ville. I think he was still playing the same bar he used to work at. He hadn't put out Crash yet, either. I'm starting to actually become addicted to spending time around Charlottesville and I see why Dave likes it there. The thing is, I never started listening to Dave because I liked him. I really don't like him as much as Timmy, Carter, or alot of the other guys he works with, I just grew up with it... listening to their stuff. DMB is just a household name around here.
