I only eat meat, some tribal cultures in pre history Russia 15,000 years ago well before Middle Eastern/Asian fabricated religions brutally intruded, believed that only eating meat would keep you young & egotistical helping from diseases & depression from long harsh winters. Also something about gaining more power from the animals spirits they ate. I have been trying to learn more about this practice but it's hard to find, (More vegetarian info than this subject) I did find an online yahoo group that deals with this issue which I have recently joined. Anyone else have info out there?
Are you talking about ingesting absolutely nothing except animal flesh? I don't even know where to begin on that. I don't even believe you, I'm pretty sure that if people were to try and survive simply on meat, they would surely die out. And it definitely would NOT keep them looking young what with the diseases that would ensue such a diet. Think scurvy (bleeding gums, rotting teeth, hemorrhages under skin, tenderness in joints and limbs), pellagra (nervousness and depression, inflamed skin, digestive disorders, diarrhea, skin sores and mental derangement) and the saturated fats and possible other diseases that can come from eating meat, whether it's from the actual animal or inproper cooking methods. Think about it. I do not believe that if such a tribe/culture existed, they lasted very long or led very good lives.
Do you have any medical proof that just eating meat alone could do this? I've been eating only meat for about a month now, I feel very empowered & strong willed. The only effect that I see right now is that buying meat all the time really cuts into my wallet, my butcher knows me by name lol. There has been cannibal tribes in the past, I wouldn't doubt the existents of carnivorianism. The people in my yahoo group don't seem sick at all, & one guys been eating just meat for a year.
You have been grossly misinformed... 1.) Many indigenous societies, present and past, consume diets strictly of meat - for example, the Masai cattle herders in sub-saharan Africa, reindeer herders in the far north of Scandinavia and Siberia, the Inuit (before becoming westernized), the Plains indians, and meat consumption was the primary means of sustenance before the development of agriculture in the beginning of the Holocene extinction event (which wiped out most of the meat animals..). Yet, they are not unhealthy on such diets. In the 1920s, an arctic explorer by the name of Stefansson lived with the Inuit and their all-meat diet, and noted how remarkably healthy it is - so it's not simply a matter of ethnic adaptation to the diet, either. 2.) Scurvy will not result from an all-meat diet (I know from experience - I also eat an all-meat diet). But for the science behind why meat prevents scurvy: First of all, fresh meat already contains vitamin C - however, most people overcook meat which negates the vitamin C content: An all-meat diet significantly reduces the body's need for vitamin C in several ways - one of vitamin C's main roles is that of collagen formation, and it does this by transferring a hydroxyl group to the amino acids lysine and proline - but meat already contains huge quantities of hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline, hence the reduction in need for vitamin C. Another important point to consider is how carbohydrates (ie, plant foods) greatly increase the need for vitamin C. Carbohydrates interfere with vitamin C absorption, so the more carbs you eat, the higher the amount of vitamin C you will need. 3.) How would Pellagra result from an all-meat diet? Pellagra is a disease of Niacin deficiency, but meat contains huge quantities of Niacin (and all other B vitamins). Not sure where this came from... 4.) The whole idea that saturated fats are "bad" in quantity is a popular myth. Saturated animal fats are important sources of nutrition (such as the fat-soluble vitamins - vitamins A,D,E, and K, among many other things) and they are NOT unhealthy in quantity (see http://www.westonaprice.org/mythstruths/mtnutrition.html )
Some resources: http://activenocarber.myfreeforum.org/ - a forum for folks who eat nothing but meat and eggs http://www.ourcivilisation.com/fat/ - outlines many of the basic principles http://www.second-opinions.co.uk - This guy has lots of good info as well
This is actually true. A majority of aging symptoms (such as skin wrinkles, balding, and some other things) are actually the result of carbohydrates (ie, plants) in the diet over the long term. Carbohydrates cause enormous insulin secretions and are responsible for glycation, both of which have been well-documented as being directly connected to aging. A meat diet neither has carbs nor promotes high levels of insulin, which is why a carnivorous diet prevents most symptoms of aging. Yeah, I also heard of meat-diets and that they can be healthy. What I'm curious about is where you got that info about a prehistoric Russian tribe. Enlight me please.
I thought cannibalism is proved not to be healthy. I believe some form of BSE (mad cow disease) came forth from cannibalism.
OKay, so I got totally messed up there with my facts, I had no idea that vitamin c can come from animal sources and I definitely got messed up on the B vitamins there... BUT... I honestly say that I do not believe what was said about saturated fats vs. unsaturated fats. vitamins A D E and K are soluble in all types of fat not just saturated. And saturated fat does contain incredibly more choloesterol than unsaturated. Here's a source for that, (what exactly is the Weston A Price foundation anyways?) : http://ww2.heartandstroke.ca/Page.asp?PageID=33&ArticleID=5326&Src=living&From=SubCategory Pretty sure that you need carbs. Remember the whole Atkins diet thing? Didn't that end badly? Your brain works better on carbs than it does on protein or fats. Fiber is very important to help your digestive tract function better. Here's another link to the H+S Foundation about this : http://ww2.heartandstroke.ca/Page.asp?PageID=33&ArticleID=5327&Src=living&From=SubCategory Also, I have a question? Does this only meat diet include fish, poultry, eggs or any dairy at all? Or is it really strict? I know dairy technically isn't meat or anything but I thought it might be a possibility since if you're going to eat cow, you might as well take the rest of what comes with it right? I dunno.
yep kirikiri (kuru-kuru...I forget the spelling) comes from eating human brain. I beleive an all animal protien diet will eventually result in some definiencies (notably vitamin C, resulting in scurvy). Sat fats , well, if one is as active as the nomads were, perhaps there is less impact but in modern sedentary society (and biking to work is NOT the same) I'd def look at the life spans of the cultures with 80 percent and higher meat diets. Seems like it would be too simple to get far out of balance, like a white bread and soy cheese with french fries vegan would. Claro?
I don't know about the other groups, but the Inuits havested (still do) and ate tons of berries. Did Stefansson mention this? Also, their meat was moreso in the form of sea life.
The reason that the Inuit are healthy and eat around 90+% meat is because wild animals have less saturated fat than farm animals. Farm animals typically have lots of solid, highly saturated fat. Wild animals that range freely (not to be confused with the "free-range" label you see on grocery store packages...that phrase usually means nothing) and eat what nature intended have more healthy fat. Plus, cold water fish are higher in Omega-3, which is good for the heart.
I am so glad you are supporting so much death and pain just to promote "energy" and a heightened sense of "liveliness". Think outside of yourself and realize that the world does not revolve around you and your feelings. Realize that you are taking from the earth by eating in such a way, only thinking of yourself and not the infinite life that surrounds you.
keep you young & egotistical umm is being immature and an egotistical asshole now concidered a good thing? come on, besides the odvios issues, an all meat diet would make u agressive iritating and short tempered if you think its so wonderful for the energy and feeling of powerfulness..try an all orange diet for 2 months and tell me if u dont have more energy then u ever imagined also, you say 1 guy on that group ate only meat for 1 year..whoopyyy..so what..1 years nothing..find 1 whos donr it 20+ years..if any survive that long ive been veggie 20+ years and frankly i feel great i guarantee anyone u find whos used an all dead animal diet more then 3 years has gotta have some serius problems, not only healthwise but real personality disorders god it makes me sick to think that people could even concider this a healthy choice in todays world with all we know ok..so..youi tried this rather disgusting alternative diet a few months... are u brave enough to try the opposite as a comparison?
