lol, and they're part of our uniform, so I'm kind of in a rut. Would it be pointless to just stop wearing them? I'm in the process of going vegan right now, and I don't know what to do.. I'll be in band for the next three years, too.
Lizz...I would where them anyway. I'm in marching band myself...and I'm 99% sure that they don't make non-leather drill masters...but marching band is all about uniformity...and unfortunetely drill masters are part of that....I'm sorry to say that if you want to be a part of a marching band program its something that you'll have to deal with... Its your choice...but I'm telling you what I know after 3 going on 4 years of marching band...
Thanks That's what I figured I'd do, anyway. I got them last year, too, so I might as well keep wearing them.
Just wear the shoes. The cow already died, kicking up a fuss for reasons that nobody but you will understand is not worth the effort. If you bought the shoes, it would be an insult to the cow that died for them to just throw them away without getting some use out of them. If they're school shoes, they will be used by many, many people after you. And, if you stop wearing the leather shoes, what are you going to wear instead? Canvas?? Trust me, you do not want to be marching in dew and mud and rain in cheap-ass vegan shoes.
