I just picked up a quad of shrooms, so obviously I'm very excited. However, the shrooms have these little almost gold flecks on them. Anyone know what these are? and if, most importantly, the shrooms are ok to eat?
My buddy grows his shrooms in birdseed, so the base of the stems have little flecks from the pieces of birdseed that break apart and grow into the shroom. As long as its just on the stem I wouldn't be too worried. Basically though the grower is supposed to clean those off, if he wants to take the time to do it. You could clean it off yourself if it bothers you.
thanks for clearing that up. I suspected it was verm, but now i know for sure. I'm not going to put in the effort to scrape off every little piece, I'll just take them as are. thanks again.
usually gold flecks or silver flecks mean they are pretty dank. when they are blue it is a good sign as well enjoy!
Generally that stuff doesn't matter much. I've heard all sorts of things about mushrooms that are just plain silly. Potency is in the strain, and the attention given from the cultivator. There is no tell tale sign for good mushies, besides the cap being still slightly joined to the stem by the veil. That is peak harvest time. I'm fairly confident that most psilos bruise blue as well.
Did anyone mention that if you ate those you'd be dead in a week? Cause if they did they were lying, oh man bad joke.
