how come rainbows don't like drainbows?

i had never even heard of a drainbow before but i can see why nobody likes them if this is true...

 

as long as they're not tripping the ENTIRE time,then they're not a drainbow. someone doesn't have to work 24/7.there are many people that will take your spot and let you have a break. you see this when people ask people to do a water run or walk around the kichen.

 

i think contributing doses is contributing a hell of alot...and hey, i bet i could do a water run dosed, of course the water might end up at the wrong kitchen(label ure water jugs kitchens!)...or maybe somebody could run rope along the trails and just tie ure tripping hippy onto the line, good way to send messages

 

hahaha hippy on a rope? kinda like soap on a rope?..that would be funny to see.

 

one of my funniest experiences at a rainbow gathering was due to the courtesy of a drainbow... it was a full moon but cloudy night and as i was walking around the trails at night, all the little flowers were glowing along the trail... and i thought, this is so nice someone took the time to paint night glow onto these flowers... only the next day did i realize that no one painted the flowers... chamomile, wild daises, etc and it was only the effect of the moonlight and here a rainbow was getting credit for something he or she never did and that's so drainbow in my book

 

and people say drainbows r useless, next time anyone asks me wat a drainbow is good for, im gunna tell them about how they make flowers glow in the dark

 

*question* if there were no drainbows to speak of.. who would catch that label? and what would they be called then?

I been a drain, but never at a gathering.
I been a thorn at a gathering, but I always gave labor if I didnt bring food.

I guess rainbow is all about dissing others and pointing out what is wrong with others.

Sure seems like such a welcoming place now a days!

I guess some people have to prove to the world how much better they are than others!

So, what is considered a good day of honest work at a gathering?

An 8 hour shift of walking around, pointing out to others, who is worthless and who is not. Telling others they are not doing their share. Pointing out others flaw MUST BE SOME REALLY HARD WORK FOR SOME OF YOU!

Must get really tiring.

So, a Rainbow farmer, spends 6 months working their ass of at their farm. They grow a whole bunch of veggies for the gathering. Lots of hard work put forth in their agricultural duties. They bring their entire crop to the gathering. After working so hard for 6 months straight. They feel they do indeed need a relaxation. Are they a drainbow because they worked their ass off for 6 months but are relaxing at the gathering?

Someone spends alot of time, money, and effort on growing 5 pounds of kind nugs. He brings then to the gathering and secretly passing out the nuggets so that they can be shared. They decide that they are going to take a break at the gathering. Would they be a drainbow even though they contributed otherwise? Lets say..... 3 grand a pound. That person just kicked down 15,000 dollars, if you want to put a dollar on it.

A person spends 2 days, hauling 1000's of trash bags out of the gathering in their personal bus at night. Their home. You were on the other side of the gathering and have no clue what the person has been doing and only see them sitting around during the day. Would they be a drainbow since you did not actually see them working with your own eyes?

A brother or sister just spent 2 months working their asses off on seed camp. Now they are ready to relax and enjoy the fruits of the labor. Are they drainbows because you do not see them working because you did not go to seed camp?

What about the brother or sister that comes to the gathering and relax, and then busts out for three months after the gathering is over.... in clean up. You would not be there to see them do what they do best.... so, would they be drainbows to?

A brother or sister works a very hard, physical job, in their non-gathering life. They work more hours than they would like for most of the year with no time for family. But, they sure do get nice paychecks. When the gathering comes and they get their little two week vacation... they go. They are exhausted and need the rest and relaxation. On their way past the magic hat, they secretly gave 10,000 dollars. Would they be a drainbow?

Some brother or sister spend their time running their private vehicle, using it as a shuttle for some assorted purpose. They do not ask for any gas or green energy for gas. They have a night shift... so you never see them working but see them relaxing during the day. Are they drainbows?

Some person hauls wood and water during the night, but you would not notice it. You only see them sitting during the day. Are they drainbow... because you do not know or see what they do contribute?

A lawyer donates unlimited free time for some rainbow folks who are in trouble. The gathering is over but they still have to work around the clock for the next year.... helping people in court. When they are at the gathering ... they decide to relax and prepare for the legal stuff awaiting. Would they be a drainbow?

People go out and dumpster dive food for the gatherers every night. You see them doing nothing during the day. Are they drainbow?

Some person digs shitters at night. Of course you would not know that and only see them resting during the day. Are they drainbow?

A whole bunch of people, sitting behind a computer, telling others what IS and what IS NOT rainbow, pointing out why people are trolls and drainbows and coming to conclusions that others are worthless.... are they drainbows?

A sister or a brother walks around all day long, each and every day, passing out tickets good for one free hug. They did not do any physical labor and never have, because they have been passing out hug tickets for 12 years. are they rainbow or drainbow?

A person goes around ever night, without anyone noticing, and puts three peices of wood into the wood pile at every camp. During the day, they sit around smoking pot. Are they a drainbow?

A person spends all night baking bread.... yet you would not know that. Are they a drainbow?

A person drives across country in a bus, hauling supplies, people and other stuff. They pay for all the gas. They drive. They pay for insurance. They help people that are stranded. When they get to the gathering, and are exhausted while their passengers got to relax, and now choose to relax.... are they drainbow?

Some guy, who is accredited with being one of the "starters" of the rainbow society, spends the whole time parading around for cameras and dealing with LEO... trying to find a way to sell out the gathering and get people to now sign a permit. Are they drainbow?

A person spends alot of time and effort and money throughout the year, on getting a rainbow publication out, and is now needing a vacation. You do not see them working. Are they drainbow?

A person goes aorund and fixes others vehicles.... but you do not see that. You just see them always sitting around and puffing.... are they drainbow? Even though they fixed like 30 vehicles that would have cost the owners ALOT of money?

Someone produces lsd and risks thier lives, safety and freedom, on behalf of spreading paper to family. When they are at the gathering, they do not really do anything and just relax after a year of stress. Are they drainbow?

A shaman, speads entheogens around the gathering. People could put a monetary value of 50,000 dollars, on what the shaman gave away. To the shaman, it is not about money. Most entheogens can be grown. Takes time and effort to do so. Alot of the people come and find the shaman and ask for something. Then go off and utilize it. Would the shaman be a drainbow... even though they would be too busy with their duties as a shaman to gather wood for some rainbow that is calling him a drainbow???

If a person has good intentions.... and only intentions... are they drainbow?

A person spends thier time year round, moderating a rainbow web site/forum/etc... They censor people by deleting thier posts and take it upon themselves to decide as an individual... what is rainbow and what is not. Are they a drainbow?

A bunch of people are down the trail, around the curve.... licking the bowel movement tree. They keep it nice and clean for others. Are the drainbows?

Am I a drainbow because I sometimes criticize rainbow?

I guess people get bored with pointing out the positive things of rainbow, and feel they must spend their time focusing on what is negative and not rainbow.

It sure shows others just how much more rainbow you are than other people!

WTF? You want some brownie points? Want me to get my 4 yo to make you some construction paper ribbon awards that say you are a true rainbow? You want me to make you some diploma that states you are a rainbow? How about some diplomas that you can go around the gathering and hand out to your friends that you feel meet your rainbow standards!

I think we should start a HIHOLY fund. Then we can go to some trophy store and spend the money on 2 dozen plastic trophies. Every year, at the national, we can have a special council to give out the trophies.

Then, at least some of you, will have a nice shiny trophy, to remind you of how much better you are than others!

That would not work.... we would need a thousand throphies at least!

Imma tell ya'll about a drainbow I met one time. He was a native elder leading a sweat. It was a sadistic sweat. He gathered up the naked sisters and had them say their fathers names in a cirlce, inside the lodge. He kept telling us to leave our emotions inside the sweat. Of course the father thing brought up alot of issues for the womens who cried and wailed. At that time I had not yet met my father, nor did I know his name. When the feather came to me I had to say, "I don't know."

I was incredibly emotionally distraught after the sweat. I wandered around the gathering tryingto keep it all in and leave it in the sweat on the verge of breakdown until I ran into the man who I'll call Dave, the one who lead the sweat.

I burst into tears and asked him what to do if I couldn't leave it in the sweat.

He said, you come talk to me. He then lead me off into the woods where he told me I have special shamanic gifts and asked if I would like to come live on a little island with him and become his apprentice/ wife. He hugged me innapropriately and suggested the tears were for attracting male attention.

Here I was, a broken 20 yr old girl who approached and elder for help only to be given more reasons not to trust men. This guy was in his fifties or older and was supposedly at the gathering in order to teach/heal/guide people.

Last I heard he was at cathedral grove-a tree sit in BC where, btw, alot of teenage runaways seem to end up- leading sweats.

I try not to be one to point fingers but if that guys not a depraived drainbow I don't know what is. He obviously has alot of healing to do and he sure succeeded in setting my healing back a few notches.

The thing that gets me the most is how many longtime family members hung on this guys every word, doted on him and generally treated him as an elder, when really he was just old.

Sometimes its hard not to judge and sometimes judgement is necessary in order to protect oneself.

 

really good to know some people understand why putting your brothers and sisters under labels is crappy thing to do.. live and let love.. regardless of what you see, or care to observe in someone else.. its all about making a difference.. do your part and leave the next person be, so they can do theirs.

Golly! Who'd'a thunk you rainbows were so cliquey?

Seriously, though, I'm planning to attend my first rainbow gathering this summer. (I've promised myself the same thing these last three or four summers, but something always got in the way.) Please, someone tell me what I should do to avoid being dismissed as a troll, blissninny, or drainbow. I'd hate having to wait a whole year to dispel whatever bad first impressions I manage to make.

 

dig a shitter
ya dig a shitter and your a god!!! carry some water, or wood..chop some veggies
take 10 min a day to be of some sort of service
pick up a cig butt
really its not that clique..its not all labels and crap..thats all babylon

and no drainbow ever gets called 1 by 1st impressions..most 1st timers fall into the blisinini catagory and we love blisinini's..lol
but drainbows earn theyre reputation over years
or at least thats my understanding..i guess..i really cant see any line that devides rainbow from drainbow and blisininis , its all rainbow..just some personality types tend to be more into spectating while otherssz more into being a part of...
and then theres those who just take advantage of..

You know, it comes as no surprise that such a generous, friendly bunch as the rainbows attract parasites. That many more rainbows break their asses trying to make the gathering as pleasant as possible for everyone involved, including the National Park Service -- now, that is a surprise, not to mention a source of renewed faith in human nature.
