smiley faces?

I was just looking through all the smiley faces and i came across this one. :beatdeadh

I'm a little disturbed...

 

beating a dead horse is an old saying

 

Yeah I know what it means, but it's just funny that they actually have a guy beating a dead horse.

 

i don't think the horse is dead yet....i saw it move

 

At first I thought it was a dog. It's quite disturbing.

 

The origin of that saying dates back to the old Dead Laws which imposed restrictions on where you could tie up your horse.

Some people were so upset that someone parked (hitched) their horse in front of their home or business that they would beat the horse.

Search engines are quite useful... makes us all seem a bit smarter... it's always good to bring in such random facts in hipforums every once in a while, raises the bar a little.

I adore all the new smileys... and you'd think I'd've already gone through the list at least once, but not yet!
