I dont, I barely ever saw fairness but Ive been told by enough ppl in thier 40's when they where young and somebody had an issue with another it was 1 vs 1. and when one of them fell it was over and the difference was settled. Now adays its 1 on 1 for about 2 minutes, until somebody steps in and they number up on 1 guy, and then more and more run in , and people even get stabbed or shot of nothing these days.......everybodys lost theyr way. I mean why fight at all if your not fighting fair.
i remember 'fighting fair' and 'honor among theves' and all that sort of thing as being something my parents talked about when i was little. now i think the concept of responsible honor is certainly possible, but it just isn't really a part of the cultural values so called christian or so called 'conservative american' so called values, nor are they commpatable nor harmonious in any way with it. and that's why, and really the only reason why, you DON'T see it in today's every day real life. 'the good fight' is for the most part an oxymoronic self contradiction. there would be could be an exception, except under today's ministry of truith corporate media, it gets lumped togather with so called terrorism because it is something that doesn't kiss the ass of putting the circular illogic of little green pieces of paper ahead of the kind of world we all have to live in. for escape we find authors putting something a little like it into fantasies that for the most part also romatacize the idea of prejudice while granted avoiding rewarding spicific conventional ones. i think you will find sometimes a concept of real honor in some japanese anime. and something a little bit like it, though not uncorruptedly, in literary genre fantasy. you know if we did have and practice such a concept you wouldn't see bus benches being destroyed and you could put little roadside shrines like you see sometimes even tucked away next to high rise office towers in japanese cities and just having a torii gate there in front of them and a place to preform your abloutions as part of a little mini-ritual to place offerings at them would be sufficient that everyone would recognize the sacredness of the concept and not tear them up, and likewise not be tearing up things that are free for everyone to enjoy, like we could have meditation gardens in our parks and things like that. you know it just goes with turning everything into crap by painting everything with one stroke of a too wide brush, miles and miles of tickytacky housing without adiquite focus on public transportation or invitingness to walk arround there, this whole mentality that everything has to be about a pretense of personal gain that gains nothing that we don't have it. now the good fight would be to fight against that in a way that would actualy be effective; that tearing everything up isn't. =^^= .../\...
No such thing as a fair fight in the real world. When I grew up, there were three rules to fighting: 1. Hit them first 2. Hit them hard 3. Hit them with something :jester:
Obviously, you've never heard of "history". You see, the Earth (and its human inhabitants) have existed since long, long before "people in their 40's" were born. And ever since Cain killed Abel (consider this a symbolic story whether you believe in it or not), mankind has been fighting dirty and has only barely stopped to look back.
yes people have been doing all sorts of things, both harmful and bennificial, for a very long time. as the story inquestion suggest, quite possibly as long as there have been people, quite likely a good bit longer then even that story implies as well. something like 20,000 years at least for the species as we know it, and a couple of million for something that enough resembles ourselves to possibly have been able to make such choices. none of which makes honor entirely undesirable as a concept. nor entirely sensible as a sole consideration. it would be desirable however, to live in a world where violent conflict did not preclude the far greater, not to mention more sustainable, gratifications, of creating and exploring. =^^= .../\...
People go to extremes to even the score up.. So much that the odds get stacks as far in the other persons favour as it was to his opponey 5 minutes before... And thus it spirals out of control..
no 'scores' are EVER 'evened' to everyone's mutual satisfaction. that's why the whole concept of doing so is idiotic. what WOULD be useful instead, is removal of barriers to the REAL gratification of nonharmful creativity and exploration when a conflict has been resolved in such a way as to do THAT, THEN something has been achieved. =^^= .../\...
