Yes, he's very tokenistic in his leftism, certainly domestically. Internationally, he's a more interesting character, has a strong anti-war and anti-Bush record and hosted Chavez in his visit to London. Great to see that Chavez came to meet Ken, but snubbed Blair....

Although Ken Livingstones office did block some of what Chavez was meant to be doing...

its misleading for brits to call their political organizations a party and so i think the name of this thread and forum segment should be open for name change suggestions

it would be nice if politics was a celebration and a party but its not

so either we change the name or get the party started... what's it gonna be?

When I lived in London I voted for Ken and the Green Party candidate. I love a rebel and he was one of those, without doubt. He seems to practice what he preaches, very rare in a politician. He challenges the establishment. They need this from time to time or they just get out of hand.

With reference to a new airport. My idea for a new London runway is that they remove all the plinths and statues in Whitehall, extend the road a bit and turn the House of Lords into a duty-free shop, buy one get one free life peerages! Seriously though people, should we not think about curbing airport building and putting money into other more planet friendly communication infrastructures?

It is so unfortunate that Americans assume naturally that we all want to be Americans. If we did then we'd be living in America voluntarily. If you look beyond the United Kingdom you will find that other countries also refer to their political organisations as parties, to wit, in France the Communist Party would be referred to as the Partie Communiste. Perhaps you need to look at the roots of english before you make grand pronouncements.....

Don't worry about Molly, he (and it is a he) is being intentionally provocative to stir debate. He's playing devil's advocate. In fact I think he might be the devil! It took us all some time to realise that. Take everything he says with a tonne of salt....

After listening to Bush, I don't think I would want to be American. I am quite happy being a British Citizen.

    How about you?

Yeah bring on the party. :)

Would be nice if we stopped labeling people by their leaders failings.
