This dude I know said that the ONLY way to get shrooms was to look under cow shit becuase thats the only way they grow. he said you cant grow them in ur house because the conditions are only right during the spring. Says his bro used to go out & pick shrroms outta cow shit all the time. Sounds to me like he was VERY VERY misinformed but i just wanted to ask u guys so i dont sound stupid when i argue about it w/ him.

    yeah he doesnt know much.

Not all shrooms grow on dung.

You can grow em in your hous any season, and dont need cow crap.

i'm hoping to move out soon, and when i do i'd like to grow some, just so when i'm in a new city, i don't have to ask shady crackheads where to get some shrooms that wont kill me

www.shroomery.org man, it will give you all the info you need to know.
But basically they are like a plant, all you need is nutrients and the right enviroment, like a terrarium.

Ya spores is the right word. Well basically you need to order a spore syringe from an online dealer. Spore syringes aren't illegal because the spores contain no drug, just the DNA encoding necessary to produce a mushroom that contains the drug.
I'd recommend getting 2 though, in case you fuck up with the first one.
Good luck with your endeavor, and just post any questions you have either here, or on the shroomery forums.

Oh ya I forgot to say, try and get your spores from the same country you are in, if it has to pass borders they slap taxes on it, and also a large sticker that says (HALLUCINOGENIC MUSHROOM SPORES)
Leaves a paper trail, and no one wants one of those.

They actually do have that sticker, they are pretty brutal about these things.
Uh depends on sites, some will be credit card, some paypal, some you just send them cash in an envelope.

It's a bit more involved than that. I've never grown a plant that involved so much sterile work.

Sterility actually isn't that big a deal. My buddy grows in his basement, and wasn't very sterile at all, for about 2 years he had no problems, until he took prints from a casing that grew mold later on. He basically harvested mold spores for 3 months, and just recently corrected the problem.
All you gotta do is keep everything around the area clean, wipe down your table with rubbing alcohol, do the same with your jars, then soak them in boiling water. And when you prepare your jars for the spores, use a pressure cooker if possible.
Just watch the sterility of your spores and syringes, that takes a bit more care.
It all becomes automatic really, and the only time you really need to worry about it, is if you get a mold problem.
On the brightside, unlike plants theres no worry about bugs, just mold.

And it is true, my buddy actually got spores from the USA and the sticker read, according to his memory "Psilocybe Cubensis (hallucinogenic) Mushroom Spores (contains no drug)"

IMO sterility is a very big deal. I've always had contaminations and so has my classmate without proper sterile environment conditions.

    Thats one nice mushroom!

I also agree...If i use boiling water instead of pressure cook forget it at least 50% chance of contam.

Im makin a mycelium culture right now...this shit looks really promising.

Me and my buddy are trying to develop a way not to need the pressure cooker. We were considering taking a bunch of birdseed and put it in one of those pots you bake a turkey in. Slap it in the oven at 400F for an hour and see how it works out.

well you should make the jars first, and then in the oven unless you sterilize em some other way or dont use jars.

Well we were thinking that we will load the jars up the second we open the oven and pull out the racks a bit, just use the door as a table. It should work fine because the hot air is still expanding and pushing outwards.
But if that doesn't work we were thinking of making a sheet metal box to load a ton of jars in.
