Im very intersted in Philosophy im thinking of making using it to geti nto Unvercity. Im very interested in the meaning of life etc. Well , religion doesnt make sense to me...No religion does. Im just lost alone , in the dark. I feel stupid but no religion gets me , i was raised a jew but the jewish religion is just so odd.. i mean we worship this god who lets people die inhumin ways...and lets evil people live.

Iv tried smoking salvia my first time 2 days ago , and now im doing it again im mostly looking to shrooms / salvia to give me a spiritual experence im looking for im not trying shrooms yet but just salvia...

I belive drugs open some doors a regular human mind cannot see / normaly comprehend.

I was thinking alot lately, about how maybe the meaning of life is somthing we all have to find out for our selfs.

Maybe im just some dumb teenager , There has got to be more to life then just going to school and getting good grades. To me life is about learning , experencing spiritualy first hand.

Am i stupid or am i making sense?

Everyone has there own oppinion on religion and this is mine.

I think most religions like the old testimate (10 commandments) where made by some dude who thought religion would stop alot of problems, When really now in days people die over what religion they belive in. If god was so great why do we have to die in his honor. Why do we have to sit in some church or shul and listen to how amazing god is , yet what has he done now?

The more we go into the future the more confusion and problems we cause our selfs..dont get me wrong i love the computer , i love technology i cant live without my ipod...but maybe , if we just sayed in biblical times , we would know the reasons to life...etc.

Wow im just a stupid kid haha

no man, i felt the same way for the longest time. i've come to the conclusion that what is actually out there, the "truth" so to speak, is just too big for any human to understand. it is amazingly complex, and goes against so much of what we know. all anyone ever can catch of it is a glimpse, and everyone interprets it differently. every religion is right and wrong at the same time.

truth is easily recognized, when all perconcieved notions are discarded. just follow your heart and youll land on your feet, no religion can teach you that.

Hey, I'm glad you're taking an interest in philosophy. If everyone took an interest in it, many of the world's and individual problems would solve themselves (not all of course).

No, you're not stupid. MANY people have written whole books over what you're talking about. Before I discovered this, I felt the same way you did. Unfortunately, many of them are hard to understand since they seem to speak in a different language.

    And yes, religion is stupid.

A life of thought is a life well lived...I think Socrates said that.

there's nothing wrong with goin to school.. especially when its free, like high school hehe.. university can get somewhat expensive, but philosophy will not dissapoint you. it is a good choice of arts, because it will teach you how to reason your way out of everything. no wonder it is translated as love of wisdom.

    Hey Pmeth,

    I like your honesty.

It sounds like you're on to something. Believe it or not, you're in good company. Trust that feeling, that there may be more to all of this, that it all makes sense somehow in some inexplicible, mysterious way. And develop your talent for asking good questions. Good questions are the best ways to "invite" truth, or wisdom, or understanding, or . . . to ask it to make its presence known.

And if you find a really good question, or a bit of truth, then please share it.

    All the best,

    Peace and Love

Philosophy will teach you to see that meaning isnt as important as the concept of meaning, or that the concept of meaning is more important than meaning.

Or that if a bear farts in the woods it only exists if you can smell it

Lol Columbo I thought it was "If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it exist?" or something.

Anyway, existence precedes essence. Make your own meaning.

Perhaps not so stupid. Part of the religious brainwashing is often to make people feel worthless or inadequate. Don't succumb to that - see that in all probability you are no dumber than anyone else, and maybe even a bit above average (as shown by your interest in these questions).

Myself, I'm somewhat glad we don't live in OT times. Life was pretty grim then, and in fact, very few people even attained the age I myself have reached.
The people who wrote the bible etc, were generally extrememly ignorant. They knew for example, nothing at all about the true structure even of the solar system, had no idea beyond superstition of what causes diseases etc etc...It is only in our time that we are really beginning to find out anything worthwhile at all.
Also - to those folks, it was perfectly acceptable to stone people to death for things we now don't even recognize as crimes - adultery, 'blasphemy', homosexuality etc.

If you want to discover truth for yourself, that is good - really, there's no other way. My advice though would be to be wary of salvia divinorum. It is quite unlike psychedelics such as LSD, psilocybin etc. Generally, they are more useful.
