A little background.. I backcombed these in August, but they fell out and I didn't bother recombing them I just let them be, so very very few of the original backcombed ones remain.... I am concerned (well, honestly, not too concerned) about how small some of my dreads are. I mean, they're super duper tiny, yet really dready/tight and don't seem to be growing together. I don't know how they dreaded so fast, I do however have super dry hair if I wash it a lot, and greasy if I don't. I've been washing alot, so I think that has something to do with it. Should I combine these dreads are leave 'em be? Why do you think they're dreading up so tiny? The naturals I've seen are usually pretty phat. Obviously my hair is young and lots of hair aren't even in dreads anymore at all, but stilllll , they're small ! I wish I could show you how small with these pictures, but I failed hehe I've never posted pictures before so I hope I do this right !! Front: Side: And the Back !! Where they're really really tiny :: Love - Advaya

Thanks Soaring Eagle for the reply ! It made me feel a bit more secure. And I'm almost 21 ! I wash with Dr. Bronners (liquid) Lavendar soap.. if I need to wake up I mix it with dr bronners Peppermint. I also have a shampoo bar made with rosemary and mint that I use if I'm itchy. I wash it about twice a week, or as soon as it feels greasy which changes throughout the month. I usually soak it in sea salt prior to washing them. I have to wear them in a wool tam at work and since theyr'e short I feel like that may be contributing to the oddness in the back (they seem to be dreading "up" but I assume once they grow longer they'll weigh down) I made a mixture to spray on it to cut grease as my hair gets oily when not washed and then the dreads that aren't totally locked fall right out. That mixture is organic apple cider vinegar, lime essential oil, and something else I forget. Another essential oil though, maybe sweet orange or something.
oh wow i guessed like 17 tops........ nice looking dreads, i say just leave them and let them be. Seems like you do alot of maintenance on them, and should turn out very nce in the end, keep us updated.
I definately wouldn't say it's a lot of maintance... I wash them really! hehe I mean the spray helps them but I rarely use it, I just enjoy making herbal things so it was something I naturally did All this talk of my age is making me laugh. I was in Massachutes recently with a group of midwifery students and one of the fellow students asked what I was doing there, as I was far to young to be studying midwifery. Back when I smoked I always got carded, even at the same place, as I am sure he thought I had a fake license and someday he'd find me out. I swear I'm 20 though.
haha thats nothing, i work with girl scouts and we took the girls on a field trip to the movies today.... an older volunteer around my age + asked me what grade i was in.... i asked her what grade she believed me to be in. she said...."middle school, like 7th or 8th, nah its gotta be 5th grade" 5th flippin grade... anyway, your dreads look great cant wait to see some progress pics
Don't worry about the size. That's what makes dreadies unique! I've got all sizes of dreads from a big fatty to lil' tiny ones. They look good! Peace and love
wow. you do look young. don't worry though. my sister got told to go back to class when she tried to pick up from school when i was in jr high. ... and she was 21. good luck with your hair
