Greetings friends. There are some untrue rumors floating around as to location and dates, (I have actually been told there are already misleading fliers out) so if you see anything specific, ignore it until the www.mindgarage.com website is updated for Goodstock 2007. Peace!

Earthmother is right y'all, If there is a date or location on any flyers about Goodstock2007 then it was put there without the consent of knowledge of Larry McClurg who is the Founder and CEO of Goodstock.

At the present time we are still looking at Central West Virginia for our location. If you have any questions you can address them to me or earthmother here in the forums, or you can go to www.mindgarage.com and ask Larry.

If you want to donate time, green energy, materials or loving encouragment, Larry will be the one that you will ulltimatly have to talk to. Everything goes by Larry before it is writen into Goodstock2007. Remembering that Larry has a job and organizing Goodstock takes up all of his personaly time, so please, only serious mind folks that are genuine should contact Larry himself. Of course you are free to go to www.mindgarage.com and sign the guestbook or look around and dig the scene. I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't.. it's all good(stock).

So Blessed Be, Brothers and Sister, let's say we put Goodstock on top of the mountain and do what is necessary to get it there. Let's lay a big slice of Love on the planet and see where it takes us..

Thanks for the Love everybody.. every little bit helps bring Goodstock closer to manifestation. All we need is Love.. da tada da da.. all we need is love, love, all we need is love..

    Love you
    sh

    Hi S_H,

I'd like to help or at least attend but I'm probably going to be doing other things: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202898

But I wonder what music groups/acts have been signed to preform? Just in case the other stuff falls through.

    Peace,

POD, we are inviting EVERYONE to attend, every known rock, folk, or other suitable groups that resonates with the 60s/70s theam.

AS to Who will acctually be playing, when the contracts are signed we can release the names.

We are trying to raise enough donations to get at least one National to sign, then all the peices will fall into their spaces and other nationals will join. We have about forty bands ready to sign right now. Untill the sigs are on the dotted line we cannot disclose any names yet, it's a liability thing.

If you go to the Goodstock site there is a poster page and one of them has names of groups that have allowed us to use their names. Go look see, www.goodstock2007.com that's not to say that is all, there are many more coming in.

We hope all the 60s 70s bands that are left will come on in and grab a spot in Goodstock2007.
Richie Havens is awesome and I do hope he attends.

What is the Summer of Love?

Here in Haight Ashbury that question has been brewing for the past 6 months. May be to find answers we should look at what really happened in 1967 and its legacy and how it can benefit us today. This is the aim of the Summer Of Love Festival, based in Haight Ashbury San Francisco where it all began. It is also the research mission of their Director, Deborah Paulino, who wasnÕt there in 1967 but has enough respect for its legacy to do her homework.

The events in 1967 known as the Summer Of Love spanned from January 14 with the Human Be In at the Golden Gate Park Polo Fields and ended October 6 with the Death Of Hippie parade down Haight St., and may events of different natures and content in between and shortly after there and around the world. The promoters and artists of the time were mostly unconnected. The influences of that time were the cause of their simultaneous happenings, some of which are recorded in history books, others only remembered by those who where there.

Hippies, LSD, and Deadheads were only a small part of what was happening in 1967 San Francisco. There were also the intellectuals from Berkeley, the Beatniks from North Beach, the Flower Children from the evangelistic Christian Churches, Bikers from the Hells Angels, the African Americans and more. This experiment spread out all over the world to Boston, New York, London, Los Angeles, Australia, and other Western centers of culture and education. Summer Of Love in 1967 was about youth and the new ideas from young exploring and re-inventing minds.

It was an era of bringing together and celebrating different urban cultures in a gathering of tribes and a living community experiment called Haight Ashbury. It also was an attempt to find ways to heal the worldÕs problems, then as now the major issue of war, but also the environment, homelessness, free medical for the needy, freedom of expression, and integration and sharing of cultural exchanges.

It also opened Western eyes to indigenous cultures, then the wisdom of the North American and South American Indians, the Eastern mysticism of India. And since then the Australian Aborigines, the African Tribes, Mahamedism, Eskimo, Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan and more. Western society today is inspired by these cultures and freedom of expression in music, drum circles, natural health care, fashion, dance, spirituality, lifestyle, poetry, astrology, and philosophy.

Their 1967 legacy to us is the ecliptic cultural freedom we take for granted in urban centers today. Other cultural identities developed from and since 1967 like the Punks and Rastafarians in the 1970s, the Rainbow Tribes and environmentalists in the 1970s, the Gay, Lesbian, and Goth in the late 1970s and early 1980, and the Electronic Music or Rave Culture and Heavy Metal Culture of the late 1980s early 1990s. And in the 21st Century many urban cultures often known by their favorite music genres like Hip Hop, Industrial, Grunge, or interests like Geeks, New Age, Neo Tribal, Gamers, and Gothic Vampires.

Summer Of Love today is not about dusting off your hippy beads and bell-bottoms as a fashion statement, it is more about dusting off you philosophy and poetry books and checking out whatÕs new. The Summer Of Love Festival is about new ideas, new arts, new technology, and new ways to help the planet and its many and varied peoples.

This is all of what Summer Of Love Festival 2007 is honoring and celebrating.

The Summer Of Love Festival is an open program of multiple events presented by various promoters, organizations, and non-profits, which are at this moment gathering on the websiteÕs Presenters list. The events range from 3-day camp out music and lifestyle festivals to open mics, to BurningManesq costume galas, to sketch comedy, plus more events joining as they are discovered. There is even a tribute cabaret dedicated to Summer Of Love in the 60Õs, and yes there will be a one-day concert in Golden Gate Park with some of the surviving artists of 1967.

Also on the Summer Of Love Festival project list are compilation CDÕs of music and spoken word, and t-shirts with fine art and poetry using print on demand technology. Unlike many namesake anniversaries before, Summer of Love Festival aims to give exposure to its individual artists and actually pay them per CD or t-shirt sold. A portion of the net profits will also be distributed amongst non-profits.

ÒOur aim is to honor the events of 1967 by promoting artists and presenters celebrating eclectic culture in their own way in the now. 1967 Promoted the freedom of religion, speech, and self-expression we take for granted today. Not only in events such as USAÕs Burning Man and Berlin/SF Love Parade, but it also opened urban eyes to the culture and wisdom of indigenous and ancient cultures in spirituality, health care, fashion, and environmentally friendly lifestyles, technology, and industry.Ó Deborah Paulino stated.

Please create a free account on the web site at http://www.summeroflovefestival.com to receive updates and to post your links. To list your event in the Summer Of Love Festival program and be part of the Presenters list is free.

Some time between 1965 and 1968 (The ingestion of substances, events, and ideas makes exact time hard to pinpoint) I first came to SF as Tim Roses's keyboard/flute player. Before that, the Village in the Apple was my base.
I considered myself a freak and not a hippie. I used to say "my sign is the high sign, my moon is in Mendocino and my rising sign is below my waist". While I shared many of the hippie sentiments I couldn't take the universal reponse of "Far Out" to every comment no matter what the content. I liked getting high but not being wasted all the time. I was (and am) a non-agreessor but not a pacifist.
Came back to the Haight in 1970 than moved to the Haight in 1971. Stayed till 1974 playing music (cover rock, original rock & rhythym and blues), fixing cars and doing odd jobs. Was, and still consider myself, a member of the Good Earth Family. Love to come out with my flute (and maybe keyboards) and relive ar least for a brief moment my salad days.
    Peace out.

Why Sept 2nd? The anniversary of the Gathering of the Tribes is Jan 14th, 2007 I think. That is when the 40th anniversary should kick off!

I'd like to seperate Goodstock and The Summer of Love Reunion. They are not the same events. The Summer of Love thing is mostly a Cali thing.. not to diminsh it any.. Goodstock is Global, not to put it above the reunion either.. just saying they are two different events. The Summer of Love event is just for the day in GGP.. Goodstock is a three day event with bands, camping and vendors.

I hope both of them manifest into something wonderful for the people. It's for the people and by the people.
    Bright Blessings
