Rape a sleeping person

Ok. I read something in the local college paper, and it sparked something interesting.

Is it wrong to rape someone who is sleeping?

Just for the sake of arguement lets say that they we know that it is impossible to wake the victim up. And the rapist is clever enough not to leave marks of any kind, or leave any clues as to the fact that she was raped. He also would make sure to now impregnate her.

To me it looks like the victim doesnt suffer any consequences and would just carry on life as normal. He/she would never know the better. And if that happens, is it wrong? As far as i can tell, one guy gets his load off and there are no negative consequences.

 

theres absolutely negative consequenses since it affects the victim subconceisly
not to mentiion its just wrong!!!

Any sexual act without both person's (or more if there's more than two) complete consent is wrong.

 

is that even possible? man I have never heard of ANYONE who slept through sex..... unless they were like 100 years old

The simple fact that you refer to it as RAPE speaks for itself. If it is rape of any kind it is morally reprehensible not to mention the criminal consequences for the pervert commiting the crude act.

I'm not sure how serious the original poster was...but BFTrick if it was a serious question then I'll gladly have a discussion with you on it. It rasies the question of what is unethical...does there have to be direct harm done to the person, is it intention behind the act...or isn't it based on definition, but instead understanding? If you want to reply to this, let me know where you're coming from...what do you understand "wrong" as entailing, and how about "rape"?

Exactly. I doubt the person who started this thread would think it alright for a man to rape him in his sleep. Rape is sick and whoever is thinking about ways to get away with it may have a mental sickness, no offense just being serious.

 

I am being serious. How can you call something bad, when nothing bad happens? The word rape here is entirely misleading, everyone reads the word, and without thinking, posts "its wrong". But in this case there arnt any consequences.

Its like asking people are tyrants bad? everyone without thinking would post "YES tyrants are bad, democracy rules" But then look at alexander the great. Or some of rulers of Greece. Or it is like asking someone if killing a person is wrong. Immediatly people would answer "yes killing is wrong", but what if i was defending myself, or killing a man who was about to kill 2 people?

I think many people if not almost all people think that rape is bad, however in this circumstace, where is the wrong?

No i wouldnt like it if i was raped. I would feel like a tool, i would feel insignificant, i would have problems with sexual intimacy...bla bla bla...Im sure the list goes on for paragraphs.

But your missing the whole point. I wouldnt know!! So after i was raped i would wake up and go to class, feeling just like i did the night before.

I should have rephrased the origional question:

"If you do think it is wrong, give me a reason."

So far all i hear is that rape is bad no matter what. I guess i dont care if you say rape is always bad if you give me a reason that applies to all rape.

So if all of you think it is so evil, i would like to see some reasons why. Just a few good ones, just a few.
