Establishing out-of-town strangers as suppliers?

Hey guys. How's it going? This is my first post, and I feel kind of dumb asking such a question on a forum, but I don't know any of you (and vice versa). So whatever...

To get right to the point, I want to get into distribution. I don't have the skills nor knowledge to grow my own, so I want to do it the other way: buy low, sell higher. My plan was to go to a larger city with frequent traffic (I'm in the lower South East, so I was thinking Miami or Ft. Lauderdale), find a source with a quality pound or two, and take it back to my area to break up and distribute. However, seeing as I'd be making risky moves in unfamiliar territory, I was wondering if anyone has any insight, advice, or experiences they could share with this type of venture.

I'm not trying to be George Jung or anything; like I said, I'd be aiming towards moving a pound or two per month. I'm not talking about getting into the hard drug market, and most smokers I've encountered are peaceful people, so I'm not really expecting any Scarface-esque shootouts. More than personal safety, I'd be concerned with buying from an undercover. I was planning on hitting the bars and asking people who have "the look" if they know of anyone, and then just taking it from there. Does this sound feasible to you guys, or am I just asking to get set up? I'd like to set up the supply line with someone here that I'm familiar with, but nobody here I know of is really dealing in bigger quantities (Which is part of the reason I want to make a move for the market).

I wish I lived up in the North, so I could look to Canada and avoid the middleman altogether, but I'm trying to make lemonade.

People get killed over marijuana.

All it takes is for you to tell the wrong person.
Or anyone you deal with to tell the wrong person.
A few months ago in a suburb of L.A., a guy who grew and sold on a small scale came home to find 3 cops in his house.
Except they weren't cops. They were thieves.
They took his weed (a pound or two) and they found a safe where the guy kept his $$ and valuables, and beat him severly until he opened it.
The experience left the grower penniless and hospitalized.

You also talk about approaching "stoner-looking people" in bars.
Do you know that lots of narcs look like stoner's? That's how they bust people.

Another example of how things can go wrong:
You sell some MJ to someone let's call him Mr. A.
On the way home from scoring an oz. from you, Mr. A is stopped by the cops. They find his weed and tell him something along the lines of "Tell us where you got it and we'll cut you a break."
That sort of ploy is VERY common.
Or maybe another person Mr. B gets busted for something totally unrelated to MJ and to save his own sorry ass tells the cops he can turn informant in exchange for a "deal".

I don't know what the laws regarding MJ sales are in your area, but in many states marijuana is still considered, in the eye's of the law, a narcotic.
You would be portrayed as a "dope pusher" in court. I know; it happened to me. I gave, totally free, a "friend" a handfull of pot. It turned out he had got busted an few weeks earlier and made a deal with the cops to turn in a dope pusher (actually he helped bust 3 people).
Back when this happened I wasn't a dealer. If a friend came by and was out and offered me a couple of bux if I turned him on to a few j's I'd sell him some of my personal stash. That was it.
This "friend" offered me $$. I told him it was a gift because he was going in the army (another part of the "deal" he made with the cops).
He laid a few bux down on the table and said "oh you might need this for gas or something." It was marked money.
He left and 2 minutes later 3 cops came busting in.
In court I was portarayed as "a major source of narcotics for juveniles."

If you only sell to people you know you're taking a risk. Most of your friends are cool, 1 or 2 might not be.
If you sell to people you don't know (i.e. someone you meet in a bar) you're taking a MAJOR risk.
The jails are full of people who were just gonna sell small amounts. They were sure they'd never get busted.

If you want to grow pot for a living, move to CA., get a Dr's recommendation, and sell your harvest to the Cannabis Clubs.

It terms of potential arrest or assualt, street-level deals is one of the riskiest crimes you can commit.

 

Add:
If you plan to grow to a strage city and buy a pound, think again. I doubt if you're going to find someone to do that in less than a few weeks, at least. Anyone who sells lbs is gonna have to either know you or have you recommended by someone who's dealt with you before.

 

i can tell already by the way you talk, that you will end up losing money insead of making it.

 

if i lived in fl. i would def look in miami for some ganj. one of my friends that lives down there moves like a 1/2 lb a week of some kind. but think again if you just wanna travel down there, pick up a pound then go back home and sell it. it might take months or even years down there to get the right hookups, but you could hit some luck and find a big distributor. its very unlikely, tho

Approaching people to sell is the stupid was of dealing. When I/my friend dealt, it was all to friends we already knew. Im thinking you need a little more experience under your belt before you even concider the distribution business.

 

just do like in half baked where they give out business cards with free samples. youll be fine.

 

I've thought of this, so I was thinking of approaching a younger group that looks like they're there for pleasure moreso than one or two older people who seem shady. I could be wrong, but I've never known of narcs to travel in groups of ~5 people (that's not sarcasm btw). If I ask bigger groups that seem less suspicious, there's guaranteed to be at least one person who smokes, or knows where to find it.

That was another concern I had, so I figured I'd take what I could get while building a relationship. Even if it meant taking a QP every week or two until my foot was in the door.

I don't see how I could. I know enough people to build a clientele. Even if I only buy a QP, if I break it down to grams and eighths (which is what most people around here buy), I'd see a decent weekly side profit. It would take more time to move, but as I said, I think I know enough potential buyers to make it happen.


Unless by "losing money" you mean getting robbed, in which case I don't know of anyone here who would have the balls to fuck with me like that. Without trying to come off as some e-thug, I'd shoot somebody before I'd let that happen.

Well you seem to have the answers for everything. If you think you got what it takes, then shit, go for it. But why are you asking us if your think you got nothing to worry about.

Sure, getting weed, and getting buyers is not hard. Its the small stuff that comes along with it that is what you need. The experience, the "street smarts", blah blah blah.. the list could go on.

Not trying to piss on your idea, but im just saying you better know what your doing.

 

I don't know of 5 narcs traveling together in a group; that's not your worry.
It's that, in a group of 5 people, 1 of them may be a narc.
And what are you gonna do, only sell to groups of 5?

Trying to make a living by dealing 8th's is a sure way to get busted.
You know how many people a day you'd have to sell to?
And what do you think your neighbors will think about 5 or more people a day stopping by your place, staying for 5--15 minutes and then leaving chinese-eyed?

 

i would just be careful asking strangers for that kind of weight. if you come off like a newb, looking for a couple grand worth of weed, they might just take you back to their place, and beat your $$ outta you instead.

I would be most worried for you trying to score a larger weight in unfamiliar territory. I speak from experience here. I lost 1500 that way, and i was with 2 other ppl at the time. The words, knives and bat come to mind.

If you're alone, in a strange area, chances are even the most docile looking dealer is giong to think more than once about robbing you. If not today, next week when you come back with 2x the cash.

I think you'd be better served hanging out with a few ppl who you believe are chill, and finding a reliable dealer that way. Or just buy small amounts from someone you encounter for a little while.

Its risky all the time man, even people you deal with on a regular basis may get the notion to rob you at any time if they are hard up for cash at the time. You coming to them with 2000, 3000 dollars is tempting.

 

Just because these people seem to trust you and seem to give you allot of responsibility... THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN trust them... I have delt with some people and on some not so small levels.... and I would always come back, because it seemed like he liked me.... AND HE DID!!! but he soon found a love for a pretty white girl and ultimately money... after finding his new love/habit, he didn't remember who his friends were and betrayed them all quickly, including me.... leaving me in allot of debt...

I could have made a big deal about it, but you don't fuck with people that like there buger sugar(they are crazy!!!)...

To answer the title of this thread: No, just no. You will get robbed and pistol whipped. Or if you're lucky you will only get arrested.

And furthermore, pushing a pound or two a month doesn't pay enough to risk this type of shit. Most people who do this type of shit were raised in and around it, and most people who try to just hop into the trade later in life end up getting fucked.

 

It seems like most of the problems people are posing could easily be avoided by purchasing a gun, even if it were just for looks. I dont advocate violence or strongarm methods, but some people DO like to spend big cash on pot, and i know i wouldnt want some ass stealing my thousand bucks. Besides, im sure your chances of being robbed are pretty slim, and its not like youre going to be buying pounds every week.

 

an elbo or 2 a month can make you decent cash. Depends on your supplies. Get an elbo for 2500, flip it for 4k. 1500 profit. do that 2-3x a month, 4500 tax free a month, thats not good cash ?

 

Find people who will buy whole ones for 4 grand that are worth ~25. That's a pipe dream, people with cash usually know what's good with numbers, and this kid probably couldn't find a decent one for cheaper than 3 grand. Unless you mean breaking a whole one down into a million bags at which point you're taking way more risk, in the end for chump change. You can make more money being legal. ranger offers sound advice here.
