What do you think is going to happen? are people one day going to wake up, and do the right thing? or is death alredy spelled out for the human race? All this is really starting to make me afraid for my life. thats not a good feeling :( . i Really don't know whats going to happen. Are We doing anything to fix it? (please forgive me, i'm just an uninformed kid who wants to know whats going on :) )

Here's the thing, Mr. Folkhippie. Ain't much you can do about any of this, but it feels good trying. In my generation we helped stop the Vietnam war, using nonviolent means. Now I suggest,

    1) Limit your offspring to one child per couple. This means you. There will be a herd crash. It will not be pretty. We each owe God one and only one death. So, if there is a herd crash, there are the same number of human deaths as if there is not a herd crash.
    2) Drive a car if you have to, but don't treat the sucker as a toy or anything but a necessary transportation tool. Support pollution inspection and control standards such as those of California. Don't drive all terrain vehicles and don't support use of cars as toys (dragsters, muscle cars).
    3) Consume what you need to, recycle what you can.
    4) Stay active. Ain't nothing wrong with protest, but do your research, know what you're talking about.

The population explosion, which is the driver behind eco-catastrophe and the herd crash, is mainly a third world issue. Do a Google search on Thomas Malthus.

Fortunately for me, since I was born in 1947, I'm only programmed to live another twenty years. I won't be alive to see the worst of it. As part of eco-catastrophe there are going to be wars that will make the twentieth century wars seem like a walk in the park. By the end of the twenty-first century, Canada will have 300 million people. All of Alberta will be a solid city.

I'm sorry, I'm getting a little emotional here, I can't write any more.

    God help us.

i think people will bring on the effect ice ages have, cutting down numbers and then building up again. just happens that this time it will be some peoples fault, and the numbers will be very very big

I think... We are not doom, because we have always some hope... But know we have to stand up and get up! Then we can make a change! Best thing is to start living in way that would help our planet... And protests are always really good!

I don't think we are entirely doomed, no. If we keep a negative attitude we are bound to fail. We just have to keep believing that we can change people's perspective. It gets easier by the day as people realize that the federal government lies to them and makes money doing it. Maybe an ice age will come. Maybe. We can't think what if's. If all the what if's in the world piled on us right now we'd be dead. Fate is a wonderful lady but sometimes she gets so busy she needs a hand; That's where we come in. If we can fight back (metaphorically speaking) and do what's needed then there is some hope for the human race.

Doomed? As a planet? Absolutely not. IMO, our planet is getting ready to undergo a big change, a rebirth. All the major religions of the world point to this in their stories, the Christian bible says there will be a new heaven and a new earth. Mother Earth will not be destroyed, but she will purge herself of the sickness and pollution that we humans have dumped on her. I think it could happen in my lifetime. I kind of agree with having only one child, my husband and I decided to do this in our lil family, for the simple fact that survival will be easier with only the three of us when the earth's transformation gets under way on a large scale. What am I doing to prepare? Learning as much as possible about herbal medicine and healing. Some sources say to get away from the cities (Iron Maiden said it best "Run to the Hills, run for your life"), stick to the woods and countryside. We have a cave on our property that we've planned to use for years for shelter if needed. The most important thing is this....DON'T PANIC! Keep your cool, do what you have to do to survive, and enjoy the ride! It should be a doozy.

Thinking that youve lost will make sure you lose, doesnt what greenpeace are doing look fun , if the earth is screwed wouldnt it be better to be able to say you tried then at least when you see it all fall apart you wont have any regrets about what might have been .

my advice become a crazy fearless ecological activist stop worrying about the outcome

It an odd paradox that only by using up the world's fossil fuels did we develop the energy technologies that are renewable sources - not finite:
i.e:solar ,wind & wave turbo power that generates electricity in hydro-electric power plants.
By the over-production of the combustion automobile could we futher develop the hydrogen & electric car.
The world isn't doomed but life as we knew it in 2006 will be fundamentally different in 2036.By then fossil fuels will be the luxury of their grandparents-along with Cod-fish in the sea,Bees & Butterflys in your garden & the concept of the Four Seasons:Winter/Spring/Summer/Autumn.Global warming will create freak weather patterns. The seas will warm-polar ice caps melt-the deserts around the equator will spread-millions of species/varieties of flora & fauna will become extinct.World populations will have to migrate away from these 'new' uninhabitable desert areas.
But the improvements will be in 'super-technologies' & 'World Governments' rather than 'Nation-State Governments'.
(I must stop drinking this pure herbal tea!.:H)

Yes. couple of million of people will die from the drop of tempuratures of -30 or more.
how I know this is because i studyed the amount of ice melting each year from 1998 to 2007 and also the increase of tempuratures. so get ready now i sugest.

Do I think we're all DOOMED?
    Not everyone.
    The conservative fundie dumbasses? Definately
The people who sit glued to their Fox News TVs and sitcoms? oh yeah
but I think the smart people who see whats going on and have been trying to do something about it will rebel and survive...
it'll be like a purge of the gene pool... all the inbred dumbasses GONE
It'll be unfortunate and sad... but thats the fact of it. a revolution, a rebirth, is indeed happening. And its only a matter of time people....
    so brace yourselves :)
