do you think the sudden widespread use of salvia is going to affect the world on a larger scale? will it be part of a consciousness shift? in ten years, will we look at salvia now the way we look at lsd before it became illegal? is this (salvia becoming mainstream and known to the public, being used by more people than ever before) is "supposed to" happen? what do you think about those who oppose it's use, and want it to be illegal? what do you think they think? there is no other drug that affects us this way; do you see it as sacred, as something spiritual, or as a chemical reaction? how has it changed you? how has it changed others around you? is it comparable to any other experience, drug induced or not? what was your most significant experience, and what did it mean to you?
Yes it is. With all the publicity, lately, and the push with Drew's law. A society as a whole, will shun the herb, and make it illegal. Too many younger people, who are not concerned with spiritualism, are bringing too much un-needed negative publicity upon salvia. Would be bound to happen with any substance that too many kids look into getting high off of. Maybe, on a very small scale, if enough people become aware of it's potential. no. I really do not think that there is enough, of a substantial amount of people, that will be touched by this plant... versus the large amount of people that tuned into the use of LSD. The mainstream will never be able to handle salvia. Most people that try salvia, are turned off to it's effects, and tend to say that they would not do it again. Word of mouth will not be the same as with LSD. A good majority of people, who want it to be illegal, do not understand its significance nor do they even care. They have most likely never tried it or never will. They base their opinions on what they read or through others experiences. That this plant, is yet another drug, that will destroy the minds of our children. I find that very few drugs will indeed influence me in the way salvia does. DMT hits me along the same line. I definitely find that it fits into a very spiritual and sacred place within myself. You change yourself. If one needs a drug to change them.. maybe they are not looking deep enough within themselves. Significantly. I find that a lot of people become aware of ego. The plant seems to effect people differently. I find that most people seem to realize just how small things are... including their existence. I think that I can pull parts of a salvia experience out of many different substances I have tried. A little bit from this and a little bit from that. The more I partake the more I realize that salvia is a very unique influence... all in it's own. Each experience seems significant in it's own way. I know what to expect the next time I partake, yet I always have the insecurity, as to what I will feel next. Though, I feel that I could never reach a stalemate, with my use of salvia... I do find myself wondering, if salvia is, meant to be used in connection with other very mind opening substances... almost as if it is just part of the key to opening one's mind. I really think the Oaxacan shamans, and their 3 tier approach to fully opening their minds, were on to something. Each salvia trip is special in it's own way..... to me.
Sadly if enough people use it , the goverment will make it illegal. No matter what , the goverment thinks all drugs that are mainstream are harmfull. I hope to god though salvia wont be illegal in my time. Some people dont understand that hallucinagins can sometimes be a religious experence. I would never do hallucinagens every day, but maybe once a week. Hallucinagens are somthing you have to use when you are ready and mature enough to handle.
i think salvia is changin the world much in the way lsd did. people dont think so. but i see so many young people again turning onto a new consciousness experience. i truely think god makes plants come out at certain times when the spiritual energies of the masses is to dark. always when there is war and strife does god bring out a conscious expanding drugi nto the masses somehow. it always seems to find its way into youth culture. i wish more people saw salvia as a spiritual tool to learn about yourself i smoke salvia not everyday or anything i treat it with respect and dont abuse it . its niot a recreational drug to me its a spiritual sacrament -hippi
I think the experience of salvia is uncomparable, and that it's an interesting effect. I'd call it just another drug, they are all drugs, its just how you use them that makes them spiritual or sacred. Now I don't think salvia is changing the world, the amount of use isn't even close to how much LSD was used in the 60's. Coupled with the fact that LSD created a whole new art/music scene, and was part of the social revolution, salvia can't hope to achieve that RIGHT now, it may one day. Salvia is also the only drug I know of where most stoners say it SHOULD be illegal, because its so intense, I don't think any drug should be illegal, part of freedom is the freedom to make your own choice, if we can't do that, well then its a hidden police state. The lawmakers don't think, they didn't get where they are today by thinking, they got there by doing what people want, by and large the anti-drug propaganda HAS worked in brainwashing people. Like people still do drugs, but mostly everyone thinks they are bad for you, and as long as people think its bad for you, they don't want it to be legal, thats just them imposing their will on you. But the world is filled with ignorant megalomaniacs, so we just have to sit back and find away around them. Thus it has been since the dawn of time.
I can't say that Salvia will be part of a largescale event anytime soon, as it's a relatively unknown drug since it hasn't gotten any light from the media (yet...), and I hope it stays that way. I see Salvia as an aid to see deeper inside your ego and subconscious when used in the context of meditation, but if I smoke it I loose that ability since the effects are too intense and I often loose my consciousness completely. Whenever I use Salvia now I always chew the leaves and immediatly after I become fully conscious I journal everything that I saw in my visions. I can't say that Salvia changed who I am as a person, but it has definitely reenforced many of my beliefs by showing me a different angle of looking at things, but still ending up with the same conclusions I had drawn previously when developing my own philosophy on life. My most significant experience would have to be when I had a vision regarding materialism, how worthless it really is, and how the only things that matter in life are the love for your friends and family, and the love they feel for you. Again, I had those sentiments already, but the experience really reenforced them.
Sadly, people are distroying a thing so great by using it just to get a buzz, no one cares about the spiritual insight anymore... The Canadian Government is already talking about making this wonderous herb illegal... This use of the drug causes the government to look bad or think that everyone who does it will use it and cause problems (which it probably will, the longer it is legal). Yes, I also think people will look back at it like LSD. This herb is so different from the other phycadelics to me and gives me a lot of insight the more I do it. It is so undescribable the feeling of laughter and experiencing this new world. I also think many people will grow to hate the herb as it slips towards illegalization... Too bad for Lady Salvia, I wish there could be a better way to end this mess...
good answers... thanks... if it becomes illegal, is it something that could possibly be detected? it's used in such small quantities, and you can't smell it at all through a plastic bag. do you think it'll become schedule 1, and be punishable as harshly as marijuana? i don't see how they expect to be able to control it. it seems like it would be easy to get through airport security. and how would they "bust" people? you don't carry it around with you, and you don't use it in public. i'm sure there are already people collecting seeds, stocking up. it's going to be very interesting...
Well, the thing is, Salvia plants look just like mint plants (because they're both from the same family). Also, Salvia is not an alkaloid, so it won't show up in a drug test. Chances are if it does become illegal, it'll be VERY hard to enforce.
