I've seen the windows word program. It looks alright, but I hear different things. I don't think you can completely run your computer from one though. idk, maybe.

Thats why I was asking. The last thing I heard about it, is that the ability to do that was one of the goals they were working on. Long Range, of course!

As I probably have mentioned before I am in college studying computer programming, anyway in one of the classes I had over the summer I had to do some research on technical advances that were being made towards improving the user interface for physically challenged individuals. One of the chillist things I read about was how ‘they’ are now working on a brain implant that would be attached or interact in some way shape or form with the optical nerves in the eye. They were using monkeys as a test subject and were able to have a monkey move a dot on a computer screen with a joy stick while measuring it’s brain waves and shit. Then they made basically a ROM chip that they implanted that allowed the monkey to just look to a position on the screen and move the dot. Pretty out their stuff, well it is right now, I am sure in 20 years when I am all hooked into my computer ‘matrix’ style, I wont thing so… :p

As far as speech recognition software goes, it’s coming along pretty well but poses a lot of problems fundamentally, mainly that we all have different speech patterns. I know in the medical transcription field they tried to get some sort of speech recognition software so that doctors could dictate their reports and have is automatically typed, and it failed horridly. It actually failed to the point that they are no longer trying to implement and develop the software any further. *shrugs* anyway I enjoy typing, it cuts down on my cig smoking.. lol
