    Outdoors Feminized seed vs. clones
I have been growing for some years in northern California and I have had a lot of trouble getting a GOOD souse of clones so I am thinking about trying Feminized seeds. I am so tired of being jerked around by the pot clubs. for the most part there are unethical or just plain stupid. the clones they sell are so weak it takes 6 weeks or more to get them going and it takes every bit of my prodigies skill to keep them alive in the hot dry summers we have. I would not be surprised if there were ( S10 ) or more. The only thing I have found that works is force sexed seed plants, but I like to get out of here after harvest I really dont want a 12 month job.
The only clones that have worked in the passed are northern lights and big bud.they are the only ones that have grown with enough vigor to produce a reasonable crop. have tryed haze, kush, widow they dont work well, at least for me, they may be good for indoor or a boteek operation.
any one have any suggestions for my situation?

Yeah! Forget about feminized seeds and learn how to clon your own plants that are bred to be potent, good producers - not one time sure things.

    Excellent advice T.H.!
Friends of mine have had good experiences with Club clones (mainly one in Oakland).
I grow outdoors exclusively from clones, and this year all of my clones came from the Oakland Club. Actually clones from clones from the club.

Cammo I have made my own clones in the past, but I shut this place down in Nov. and head south for the winter. it is pretty dismal around here, insistent cold rain and mud.How long can you keep a mother plant alive, years?
Ranger, I have herd good things about some Oakland clubs. What is the name of the club you are talking about? and what strain did you use this year?

Yes, you can keep a mother plant alive for years - almost indefinitely really! The thing to remember is that clons of the mother plant aren't "offspring" (in the maternal sense) that create several generations of the normal variations that you get with normal seed production. Over time the reproductive system (seed making) adapts and changes so that after x number of generations the charactoristics of the new plants are no longer the same as the original.

Clons on the other hand are not passing on their genes through the "mixer" of seed making. They are continuing life as the same plant they were when the cutting was taken. So, mother plants and clons aren't passing on their genes so much as they are just continuing to grow them.
Under laboratory conditions an "individual mother plant" can be kept alive for a very long time (many years). Because of problems with trying to balance plant size with vigor and general health, most growers limit each "individual mother plant" to about a year (more or less) in service. For about a year the plant gets hacked up untill it is replaced by a clon of itself - becomming the new "mother plant"!!!
