Nice one. Check out Mystic Journey (disc) and "Doors to Heaven." Darkest Hour is an old fave of mine.
Arlo is amazing, the Guthrie family was born to play music i think. Started with woody, passed to Arlo, and now to his daughter...
and his son, Abe, who apparently is good at a mix board too. Woody's older brother Jack was a fiddler. My former father-in-law played a bit of guitar with him a time or two, sort of a let the kid hang around gesture on Jack's part.
got to see him live a few months ago fantastically entertaining and the pause of mr claus from 'arlo' is my fave
Listening to "Chilling Of The Evening" (my favroite song from him) right now off of "Alice's Restaurant". I've only heard this album though, and i have a couple songs he did at woodstock. whats some good arlo guthrie to get into?
My favorite is Arlo Guthrie and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band! Actually bluegrass music I 'spose but highly valued (by me).
since you like that time frame, check out the Arlo and Seeger concerts, Amigo and Hobo's Lullaby. also check out Steve Goodman's work. He wrote City of New Orleans.
"Hobo's Lullaby" is one of my favorite albums of all time. He's amazing and of course..who can't help but love 'Alice's Restaurant'?
yeah me too...I love Arlo. When I'm sad or something i always put his music on.... and remember "You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant"
Playing Alice's Restaurant Massacree has been a Thanksgiving tradition in my family for almost forty years!
