I believe in drinking a lot of water. I say, "you can't drink too much water, unless you are drowning!"
To me it all depends on the type of water. I don't drink tap water, only spring water. And you have to be careful of that because not all water is created equal. Some water sold as spring water is, in fact, tap water. And then there's the faux waters, like Dasani. Dasani contains salt, Potassium Chloride, and something else. For the life of me, I can't understand WHY drinking water should EVER contain salt. The more you drink Dasani, the thirstier you get. That's how they hook you into buying it. And the Coca-Cola Company makes it.
I LOVE water!!! But yeah I don't like extra junk in it like Sherlock said. Soda companies suck!! Have you ever read the ingredients on flavored waters? GROSS.
I love water to. I put lemon in mine usually for extra health benefits. I drink TONS daily, I always have a water bottle when Im out. Its funny to me when people say they cant manage the "8 glasses a day" rule, I go over and far beyond that. Lately I've been hearing all kinds of gross stories about bottled water and how tainted it is.
yep me too it's pretty cool 'cos i can see and feel the benefits, especially in my skin- it actually feels rough when i need a drink...although no one will believe me since majorly increasing my water intake a few years ago my skin has also completely cleared up, which is pretty amazing. i'm also thinking a lot more clearly, and i'd imagine my insides are nice and sparkly too. oh yeah, drinking loads is also great for your teeth! and as for the bottled/tap water debate, i have 2 things to say- either are preferable over the muddy water people in poverty have to drink; and i'm sure that whatever has been added to our water, my liver can handle. i don't want it getting too lazy
I drink a lot of water from the water cooler at work and water from our well at home. I saw Sheryl Crow on tv recently and she was discussing breast cancer. she said because bottled water is totally unregulated, it's safer to be drinking tap water. Has anyone taken the time to research this?
I won't drink Tap Water anymore. Chlorine scours the walls of the arteries and makes it easier for plaque to adhere to them. It greatly increases the risk of heart disease, but you will probably never hear about this because of all the constant touting about how supposedly healthy tap water is. It is so toxic that it can kill anything, including the AIDS virus. Imagine what it does to your body in the long run. And the fluoride is no better for your health. It's an extremely toxic chemical that was added to drinking water after World War II in the guise of being good for the teeth, which it is not. It was one of the chief chemicals used in the production of Uranium ore. Fluoride is so toxic that it can't be dumped anywhere because of the contamination it would cause. It was added to our drinking water to essentially see what it would do to human beings in the long run. Because of these two things, I won't drink tap water, and I'd rather not bath in it either. The mist created in the shower is essentially a Chlorine Gas Chamber.
I drink a lot of water, near two gallons a day. Only bottled, as we live in an unincorporated area, where the private well we have has been contaminated in the past. Even our pets get their water put in the Brita Filter! You CAN drink too much water. It is a condition called "Water Intoxication" and it can cause a sodium/ potassium imbalance, which can make you very sick and in rare cases, even kill you. Babies are very liable to get water intoxication, which is why they should be given NOTHING for the first 6 months or so except human milk or formula, (and formual only in rare medical situationsm as most babies can get and should get exclusively human milk.) Babies should never be given water under the age of 6 months and after that, no more than 2-4 oz a day of fluid other than their milk. Water intoxication can occur in adults when they are ill, or often during certain types of psychiatric conditions, in which they feel they are forced to drink water to "purify" themselves. Also, sometimes people who take Extacy and think they have to remain hydrated can get water intoxication, by drinking more than their bodies can handle. The solution to the dehydration which can occompany E consumption usually only occurs in hot clubs, where people dance past exhaustion, and this can be avoided by two ways, One. dance less and rest more and Two, drink Gatorade or Pedialyte while dancing on E, instead of water.
Well what is life without water? However some people ignore the importance of drinking water and there are some who avoid drinking it just because they feel that drinking too much water will make them urinate a lot. How silly can the excuses be. Anyways I always make it a point to gulp down water in huge quantities whenever am thirsty, now I want to know is there any problems if I drink more water than required? As I also heard some people arguing that 8 glasses of water which is generally recommended to be taken as too much!
I think to drink too much water you have to drink A LOT. Water helps with all your bodily functions so its all good. But whats this I'm reading here about how tap water is bad? And now bottled water is bad? Thats kinda scary. Someone should research that...
every now and then someone kills themselves in the summer months by drinking too much water, its kind of like the idiots who give themselves frostbite by chilling their skin with the A/C because they are too hot.
It's not dangerous to drink a ton of water throughout the entire day. What is dangerous, is to drink a lot of water in a short period of time. It has to do with your electrolytes but in the end, way too much water too fast does something to your blood (I think I heard that it makes it sticky? not totally sure) and it can cause stuff like heart attacks and strokes....It was kinda funny one day, I was drinking a ton of water and i got some chest pains and I couldn't figure out why, a little while later i read up on water intoxication and when i found out it can give you heart attacks, that freaked me out for a little while...either way, I tend to drink probably 2 or more liters a day
And even after all of what you say, its still cleaner then oceans and even lakes and rivers. Cleaner then back in the day when people used to shower in lakes.
The only bad thing about drinking a ton of water is you piss for every glass of water you drink, if you drink 10 glasses of water a day, you will piss roughly around 10 times..
Not supporting Dasani, but a little salt in water is actually not a bad thing. It helps the water more easily assimilate and prevents electrolyte imbalance, actually quenching one's thirst more.
If I was forced at gunpoint to choose between drinking from a creek or drinking a glass of tap water, I would choose the creek. There is nothing wrong with good spring water from the mountains taken right from the source. No one is saying to go to a river and get your water from there in a jug. And unless processed, ocean water is not even drinkable. Yes, but if the salted water makes you thirstier when you drink it, how is that quenching your thirst?
