Bad news for the lovers of grassy Cheese. I fear this will take the organic element away from a band who i feel has been building a deeply eclectic groove. He will surely be missed. Group hoot will never be the same!

hmmmm local chatter (un verified as of yet) is they are done altogether.

Hope he takes Homeslice to a higher level. Billy's always been my fave.

Yeah... I felt like I was hit in the head with a brick this morning. I woke up, decided to migrate over to jambase and I just happen to see that Nershi is to quit.. and SCI has no plans after '07.

I've only met Billy and Travis... My mouth just pretty much just gaping as I stared at the fog and lights idling onstage as the room filled up with people on 10-16-05. And as I stood front center, the looks of sheer astonishment and wonder were returned by the two as they walked out from around the curtains, took a look at the expression on my face (I was off in lalaland gazing at the lights), and just started talking...

I wish them well wherever they may go. I'd have to say... although their popularity has grown (not a bad thing), they still retain the same atmosphere and know how to unite people with at least one thing we have in common.

theres talk about puting keller in, but even if that happens ( which i guess is possible, but im doubtfull) the sound of nershi's voice and guitar will always be SCI for me.

keller replacing the Nersh? let me vomit. i like keller, but he is his own thing. Keller Incident is cool, but SCI is all its own. i hope he reconsiders soon and they will be back and just be on a break. SCI has been apart of my life since 99.....too bad. i am for sure going to be in San Fran now, sorry Garaj Mahal...

    nah.. they are done.
I can't see Keller working either. Frankly, he does not have the songwriting depth of Nershi. Plus I think everyone is involved in their projects.
I wish them great happiness and sucess.

i agree. keller is a good show. he has a great vibe and what not, but his songs are pretty lame. i like his covers alot more.

now I said "depth." I LIKED portapotty (the first 1000 times) and Blazabago.
For sure my Keller highlight was when he and Kang did Thirsty in the Rain (Rowan) at trees oh, 1998 or so. Guess what the tapers didn't get.
that was the same night Billy (this is a thread about Billy) was so sloshed he invited Paul and I to come to Austin with them about seven times. We kept saying, "Billy, we will be there. We will be in Austin. Don't worry."

for me the incident part is what make KWIncident worth seeing. I'm no great fan of looping for looping's sake.
But Jamie Janover does it quite well.

well I got tickets for both nights this year at the Fox theatre in Atlanta. Last year I only got to see one show. It will be a sad occassion. The fact that cheese chose Fox just shows how much they loved playing the venue. And they definately are a perfect fit inside the Fox.

I probably wont get to San Francisco or any of the other shows but you can bet that when ever any of the boys venture down south I will be among the first at the ticket counter. They are all great in my mind. over the years cheese has become my band of choice. They like Phish and the Grateful Dead before them took us one step closer.

is there an explanation for an album with themes of growing together and making the "big compromise" and a dvd of the same title..and then this?! were they disillusioned, or just trying to convince us things would work out?

i understand the pull in opposite directions. they all go and will do great things on their own...but cheese opened my mind, i feel like i grew to their music. i'm 16 and only got the chance to see them once. definitley dissapointed. still, i wish them all the best.

theme for the band? of the band members' lives?
SCI has cost the members dearly in many ways, while enriching their lives at the same time.
I'd not seen the Billy-led cheese I loved in many years.
(from a conversation with a bud who lived with Kang for a while: J walks in, Kang is listening to some tracks.
    J-who's that?
    Kang, irritated: US!)

If keller stepped in I would lose respect for him and SCI.

I mean, it won't happen, but if it did.

I think we'll just see the projects grow.

I guess I'll have to start deciding betwen projects: EOTO next weekend!!!!!!! (travis & jason)

Unfortunatly I too believe that this means the end of string cheese incident. I just hope that they visit new york again before they go. Im not a huge fan of SCI side projects. I love travis but I dont like Zilla much (not much for the techno thing) Honkeytonk is alright but it doesnt do much for me. kyle's stuff is intersting (great musician and songwriter) but i perfer his jazz stuff over the electronic which is what never odd or even mostly is. And as far as i know (correct me if im wrong) kang (arguably my favorite) and mosely aren't doing any side stuff. Im just not ready to see them go. Just as a hypothetical open question, if someone were to replace nershi, who would you (regardless of plausibility) put in the seat? ...I love Billy and I know that theres no one who can really repalce him, but just as as thought. I was thinking Drew Emmitt, and having some double mandolin action.
