Sadaam got sentenced to death.

I don't think putting him to death is paying the full price.

Guess I am one of the only ones not all "pro-killing". The guy is evil, don't get me wrong.. but killing him doesn't bring the people he killed back to life. It just makes murderers out of the people who sentenced him and who will hang him.

I don't know what the answer is, as I don't think he will ever wake up one day and say "Gee whiz.. it was wrong of me to kill all those Sunis and Kurds." But killing him could just widen the gulf between the different religions in the area. Already the people in his home town are rioting with AK47s and pledging vendettas.

So... violence begat violence begat murder begat murder.... where does the cycle end?

I wouldn't say killing him is the right answer.
Yes, letting him rot in jail may just be what he was hoping for....to live. But, killing him just takes ANY future guilt (assuming he is still human and will eventually feel some sort of remorse....if only for a minute) off his shoulders. It lets his mind free.

 

Death does not seem so terrible in this scenario, it's more like the easy way out for Sadaam. If it was up to me, I would easily choose death over imprisonment.

I think he deserves a life sentence, in a Kurdish prison.

 

i don't believe in capital punishment. i don't care if its Hitler or Sadaam or even the devil himself. Bad people exist. Killing them isn't the answer. Its stooping to their level.
But I mean, I guess since we can have a war on terrorism (aka all the "bad people"), killing him is justified..

I don't think killing saddam is a solution, but if you're gonna kill him, put him on death row with every other criminal, and give him a lethal injection. setting him up on a national platform and hanging his ass is just going to make him a martyr.

It'll be the biggest pay per view event in the history of america, that's for damn sure.

i don't believe the death penalty is acceptable in any situation, your killing someone for killing someone...that doesn't make sense & it shouldn't be anyone's decision to take someone else's life, it shouldn't be someone's decision to take their own life. maybe they should actually try to figure out why saddam acted how he did, it's not his fault he was brought up the way he was.
