Because of the ongoing debate about wheather or not to breastfeed, I'd like to make a lil poll.

No disgussion here, please, just answer the poll.

I am interessted in, wheather there is a correlation between upbringing and the decision a women takes about breastfeeding.

    than you!

i know you said no discussion, but i was not breastfed and i HAVE breastfed both my children. that wasn't EXACTLY an option, though close enough for government work.

kc, yours would then be the first option... you tried/did breastfeed your children... the wording wasn't really acurate.... :)

I don't know whether I was breastfed, but plan to at least try to breastfeed my kids.

And I don't talk to my mother, so I can't exactly just bring up the question in idle conversation.

Wish there was an option for those who aren' tplanning on ever having kids, so you could at least see those who have or havent' been breastfed in the past, or an option for the men who frequent this forum.

Nobody knows how much having that first kid changes everything.

I've been lactating continuously for five and half years!

Um. I couldn't answer. I was only "token" breastfed. Which meant that, not due to medical problems, I was given LOTS of bottles of formula (and put on plain cow's milk at around 3 to 4 months, as "that formula is too expensive.") and sometimes breastfed. Obviously, I didn't nurse well, and the fact that my mother went away "to get to know your dad again" when I was ONLY two months old, I had other issues with bonding. (I am breaking the discussion rule, because my answer was not on the poll.)

I cannot "Try" as I have already had my children. I nursed all of them. Despite my first baby being VERY difficullt to nurse (although not as difficult as mamaboogies first baby, heaven bless her patience) (she got nipple confusion, as I was told, by my MIL and own mother that I had to "get her used to a bottle, just in case you die or want to go out" and a misunderstanding of how the breast works which resulted in the baby getting severe breast confusion and sometimes screaming at the breast every time I tried to nurse her for days on end, I ended up refusiong to give up, and she nursed until toddler hood.

All my children nursed until toddlerhood. My youngest was 4 and half years old when she weaned. With the exception of my first, who I think I hurred along, not knowing any better, I allowed my babies to self wean. NO, I am not gong to "go away to college with them so they can nurse" no, they didn't have problems in school, due to being teased, nor did they develop over attachment. All learned to sleep "through the Night" when they were ready, and all are cool kids.

Kasten, can I change the poll question from try to "I intend on breastfeeding" or I am/will breastfeed my babies" instead of the word "try" which implies not having had kids yet?

If not, that's OK, but most womyn here have had kids, and a more open quiestion may work better.

Okay. I think it scans better now. The idea of the thread is the same, but mamas who have had kids can vote as well.
