My fiance had a kidney stone years ago (before we met) and had to get it removed surgically. ie it hurt a lot. Well, we've been talking about her taking birth control (I don't want to use condoms, never liked them), and we were all set when one of her best friends decided to put doubt into her mind. They I guess were talking about it, and her friend told her not to take birth control, and that her sister had had a kidney stone and that taking birth control had given her lots of sharp pains, etc. So she asked my fiance not to take it... I've been trying to tell her she should talk to a doctor rather then her friend about birth control, but she's being very defensive of her friend and wants to believe her. I did a google search about kidney stones and birth control pills, and it does seem that some birth control could be a cause for kidney stones, but it seems it would require a heavy dose (the kind of birth control you take once a week or month as opposed to the daily ones). Anyway, any help would be appreciated I want to know what the deal is. I want her to use birth control so we can have unprotected sex together, but I don't want her being in pain by taking birth control.
I've been on the pill since I was fourteen. Have taken some short term breaks from it over the years..I'm thirty three now.. I think drinking large amounts of soda pop over time would probably mess my kidneys up worse than taking birth control..But, that's just my take on it.
