Have any of the crocheters or knitters ever made and felted wool diaper covers or baby leggings like the Ruskovilla woolens?

Felted? I can't seem to find any that are felted online, do you have a pic? ... The pics I've managed to find seem to be just knit; I'm sure if you did a google search on 'baby pants free knit pattern' or something, you may end up with a pattern you're looking for.

I have patterns. Though I was wondering if I should crochet the diaper covers large to accomodate for the shrinking when I am going to felt them. I am using this new Henry's attis Gaia organic wool and am going to wash it in kookaburra woolwash. I was just curious to see if anyone has any recommendations. I know the mothering.com has a forum for making diaper covers and some have used Patons wool and felted them. But I can't find the thread to see how it was done. Thanks !

If you feel couragious to do so, try your own pattern. If you've already have a crochet pattern for a diaper cover but want to make it felted, the general rule is that wool shrinks on average 33%. Test a swatch of the wool you have already, crochet a big square (6 x 6 inches maybe), felt it and see how it shrinks, measuring before and after.

Based on how much it shrinks, than increase your crochet pattern proportionally. ie if it shrinks approx 30%, then increase your pattern by 30% then felt it.

I have made diaper covers from wool sweaters that i bought at a thrift store. I washed the 100% wool sweaters first. then cut out the pattern, and actually hand sewed them togther. They did shrink quite a bit. I'll dig them out and post a pic.

Thanks! I have a great wool sweater set aside that was shrunk to make a dipe cover. My main cocern was really that the wool was costly and don't want to end up with a cover thats too small. I'd love to see your pics!!
