open a rar file

does anyone know how to open win rar file. when i try to open it. it goes to a web page that says i have to buy a program to open it. someone said i can open it with winzip?? how is that done.

Yeah you should use winrar and there is no way you can open it with winzip(I think)....

 

I think Power Archiver can open them as well, does most things.

 

7-Zip works well too, it's rather diverse in types of archives and it's free.

Packing / unpacking: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR
Unpacking only: RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB and NSIS
