My grades have stayed pretty much the same since I started smoking. They're average mostly, except for in English and History where I do fairly well usually. Although I've found that when I do my homework/study high, I focus on it much more. When I'm sober I'll take a break every two minutes, but when I'm high I just buckle down and do it. And sometimes enjoy it. I don't make a habit of it, though. Especially with the short-term memory problems while studying; I think I'm better off studying sober, or maybe studying high and then kind of topping up on it sober, if that makes sense.
weed makes me lazy and it gets hard to concentrate so if i smoke i'm unable to study afterwards. I never studied much though, and weed actually helped me for example in portuguese and philosophy class, where you're supposed to think by yourself. I did ok in biology, psychology and geology too. It made my physics, chemistry and math classes hell though, and i skipped them a lot because i got high and just didn't feel like going to class. I suggest that you try it out to see if it works for you. I'm sure you'll be able to use it in some circumstances, like homework or something.
Easy as this, do your homework/study, then at night toke up then whenever you want, pass the fuck out.
my first month of college i was smoking at least once a day, usually more, and it really fucked with me. it was a huge mistake, but i dunno, i guess it was my way of dealing with being away from my old friends etc. anyways, my grades were shit, cause i get real lazy after smoking, and i mean for a long time after smoking, not just when im high (haha EVERYBODY gets lazy when theyre high...) but i mean i get lazy for at least a day afterwards, and i cant concentrate on shit. but i slowed down and started to remember what my priorities are, so now i only smoke once or twice a week, to keep things in balance. but yeah, everybody's different, that's just me.
i get my BS in december ive smoked for yrs. alot of my non smoking friends dropped out through the yrs.
You have to find a balance that works. Last semester my grades in university slipped because I was smoking so much pot. I still smoke a lot of pot now but my grades are up sky-high because I time my pot sessions and study sessions in such a way that one doesn't affect the other. Also as TopNotch suggested, what works for one person may not work for the other. I have friends who study when they're stoned and it works for them but it doesn't work for me for some reason so I have to leave a suitable gap in between.
i never smoked weed in high school and got bs and a's. in uni now it's about the same... just about organizing your priorities if you want to get stuff done. you gotta have a schedule for your work and stick to it and shit... well at least that works for me
ever since 7th grade, when i started smoking, i've been a D student. before that i was a strait F student. but then again, i could get A's if a wanted to, but i really dont give a fuck.
I'm undecided in choosing a major but I want to take classes in political science, creative writing, and philosophy. Also, how do you smoke without getting caught when you live on campus?
You can definetly do both. Just dont go to class stoned. Or you could and just take good notes to review later. ;D I found calculus a bit easier to digest stoned.
I meant how do you smoke without getting caught in the act of smoking when you live on campus? I looked at the college (Saint Anselm) student handbook online and they are really strict about students not using drugs or alcohol (except 21 year olds) on campus, as is any college or university. How do you do it?
My buddy met this guy at college who uses a volcano vap. THey have a sort of suit setup, a living room then a bedroom. They just shut the bedroom door and open some windows. They havent been caught yet, so it seems to work out for them. I mean, i plan on smoking out the window. Thats what i do at home and ive never had a problem. The only thing id worry about are smoke alarms, but again, just smoke out the window.
Hey Slice and Dice, Don't just blow smoke out the window! In college we did this once and the neighbor got smoked out. Needless to say he wasn't cool and the man was soon bangin on the door. The old school trick to puff down on campus (or anywhere questionable) is to simply make what some call a "dirty whore". Stuff a few dryer sheets into the core of a toilet paper roll and just blow your hits through it upon exhaling. That is what we did in the dorms and it always worked in avoiding the gestapo. Well good Luck, Grease Monkey
Ah, yes, the "spoof". I've done that before and I've made really good spoofs using a plastic gallon jug and many Bounce dryer sheets. But visible smoke still comes out of spoofs and could potentially set off the fire alarms, even if smoke is blown out the window (wind could blow it back into the room). Plus, I never know who my roommate will be and he could very well narc on me or be cool with me smoking, either way I don't know. I'm pretty stuck.
Honestly i dont think that smoking weed will effect your academics if you have the right approach to it. Personally i smoke like 2-4 times a week and my marks are higher than ever this year. I think this is because i moved away from the whole 'marijuana lifestyle' - although it was hard to do... it certainly payed off in regards to education. i think if you strive to get all your work done and then smoke you will do fine, but keeping the two things seperate is a must if you dont want to see any effect. but hey- its different for everyone. Im also in high school so i couldnt tell you what it would be like going into college. although, my brother has told me that he was on numerous amounts of drugs through university and they actually helped him keep his work up. so hey give it some thought, thats just my input.
set up a reward system if you have good self-control this'll work study/write essays/do homework, then when you're all done and finished, toke up
to each their own. it's only something you can truly decide for yourself. all the advice in the world isn't going to do anything because when it comes down to it it's how marijuana affects YOU. and as far as university goes, i don't think you will be able to tell until you get there. you won't know your roomate too well until then, and how your RA on the floor is.--- some are real cool, some are neutral, and some are plain dicks. also, for the most part, you shouldn't have a hard time toking. I find toking on a college campus so freaking easy it's ridiculous. My roomate this year is against weed, but i still smoke in the room when he's at class and stuff. I just take a lot of precautions....use a spoof, don't smoke a lot, use a bubbler or bong or vape if you can, use a box fan at the end of the window, towel the door, have sprays handy, ..and sometimes i also put a matress up...the way our dorms work is when you walk in the wall juts inward right as you walk in. and the mattress, fits perfectly into that wall jut, so it creates a great seal.
For me finding places to smoke is the hardest part of blazing at school. Smoking inside your room is dangrous. Even with taking precautions to limit the smoke the biggest problem is the smell cause it will linger in the halls. I know some people who have their own bathrooms inside thier rooms can smoke in there and have no problem or if you have a car its pretty safe. I dont have either so most of the time I smoke while walking around campus. I just roll a joint or will mix it with some rolling tobacco and roam one of the parking lots.
