Just wondering what everyone is doing for this holiday? Traditionaly, after the trick or treating with the kids, I cast a circle with my daughter and we discuss the afterlife and those that we've known that have gone. Even though she is only seven she never ceases to amaze me with her understanding and ideas.
I was just talking to my oldest son (he's almost 7) this morning about Samhain. He was absolutely intrugued with the meaning behind it. As far as what we're doing, well, we're trick-or-treating of course, then going to a family-friendly party with the kids afterwards. After that, I'll just do a private candle lighting ritual before turning in for the night.
Have been having parties and rituals all weekend..up until last night... Performed a short death rite for my horse who died saturday night... Visiting gravesites today to leave offering and talk, and tonight will clean my family altar and freshed it up and do some family ritual. This weekend, the men of our tribe are having Hunt Night at our ritual site on our land...where we will spend the evening and night in drumming..stomping..invoking..dancing and trance... If all works out, we will have a cthonic sacrifice..
Fire and wine! We'll be doing a light rit at my friends place. It'll be the first time her kids will join the 31st festivities as we usually keep it fairly adult but since the eldest has offically decided he's pagan we're going to accomidate. Tonight will mark the begining of my commitment to the ways of fire for this year. (If patience and skill allow, I'm planning my first fire spin for summer solstice )
I too begin a way of fire of sorts this Samhain...As of tommorow, i will officially be a forest ranger for South Mississippi...and i will be taking on fire to protect the forests. Much work with my gods of fire will be had in the coming months...as the protect me in controlling such an element.
Happy Samhain to all of you too! I'm going to have a small ritual tonight after i'm done doing a rediculous amount of school work. This weekend I'm heading out to the four quarters, which is a pagan commune to celebrate the passing of my b/f. He wants me there.
Taking advantage of the thinning, looking to the future, remembering the past. Your boyfriend is with you already bumble I'm sure he'll be passing to the summerlands in peace. Happy dancing round the bone-fire Heron and to everyone else, merry Samhain ~River~
Hello! I am new here. Since I am getting over the stomach flu my sabbat was really simple. I carved a jack-o-lantern and buried apples to remember my dead and lit a candle in my window to guide them home. Blessed be all
