I'm probably taking 40-50g of powdered Peruvian Torch cactus this weekend, and I thought it'd be a good idea to look for some helpful suggestions from the hipforums psychedelic community. It will be my first time trying cactus, but not my first psychedelic.

Since I am buying it in a powdered form, do you guys have any suggestions for ingestion?

Also, any tips for a place to go to enjoy the trip?

Another question: would 3-6 grams of syrian rue seed taken with the cacti be beneficial, and if so, to what extent?

I am not sure if it is of any significance, and I am sure people have done it in the past, but I read somewhere that some mesc containing cacti contain tyramine, which is one of the forbidden ingredients of the MAOI diet. You may want to look into it. I know people have done it in the past, but it is better safe than sorry.

I do know that the rue would intensify the trip......I just don't know what other side-effects it may carry.

I've heard bad things about using gel caps. You don't need any extra stomach disturbances, as those are inevitable from the alkaloids alone. You could always take it straight and chase it with grapefruit juice. Or try one of those jello concoctions people speak of. Might be a good idea to fast before hand, it comes on slow enough as it is.

I'd advise against that. Especially if this is your first time with a succulent. Check it out first.

No problem. I don't even know if it's anything to worry about. If it does contain tyramine, which I THINK it does, it may not even be enough to cause any negative effects, but I would definitely look into it.

Alright, I sort of ruled out Syrian Rue for my first cactus trip, but any tips for a place to try it?

    I found this: https://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.cgi?ID=3089
It looks like harmala/harmaline may not be dangerous when used in combination with tyramine, but it can cause some unwanted effects. Peruvianus definitely contains tyramine though; Contains: mescaline (0.82%), 2-chloromescaline (.02%), tyramine (.009%), 3-methoxytyramine (.01%), 3-4-dimethoxyphenethylamine, 4-hydroxy-3-5-dimethoxyphenethylamine (.004%).

Outdoors in general. Especially since your lucky ass is in Florida.

Haha, I think I might check out a local national park. Yeah, Florida is alright. I hope it doesn't get "cold" this weekend (in the 60s). My high-temperature conditioned self can't handle such low temperatures. I'd much rather be in the Pacific Northwest in the spring, though.

I love to get out in a winter wonderland when I can too. The snow banks always look like bubbles.
