adsense - does it make money ?

I keep trying to find out whether anyone REALLY is making money by
having google adsense advertising on their pages (you know the one where you get paid if people click an advert on your site) and all I get is
people trying to sell books or something about how to get rich with adsense
can anyone categorically give me links to sites where there is honest discussion on the subject please

 

It's profoundly difficult to net a profit from google's 'adsense', because you're waging the fees to advertise it, against the gain of 'clicks'. If you have something really enticing, then of course, you can make a bit of money. I by no means think that you'll gain 100$ a month, or anything. But 2-3$ isn't impossible

Ah ok thanks - yep those books that go on about being an adsense millionaire are crap I know but I would have thought $2 was a bit low - would there be any point in doing it - or is that $2 per site full of adds
