Colorado Cannabis Legalization Initiative Certified For November Ballot August 17, 2006 - Denver, CO, USA Denver, CO: The Colorado Secretary of State's office announced Wednesday that a statewide initiative that seeks to eliminate all criminal and civil penalties for the possession of cannabis by adults has been certified to appear on the November 2006 ballot. Sponsored by Safer Alternatives For Enjoyable Recreation (SAFER), the measure would amend state statutes to make the possession of up to one ounce of cannabis legal in Colorado for those age 21 or older. Last year, voters in Denver passed a similar municipal initiative by 54 percent. Sponsors turned in more than 130,000 signatures from Colorado voters to qualify the measure for the November ballot. "The campaign will highlight the hypocrisy of laws that prohibit the use of marijuana while allowing and even encouraging the use of alcohol, an infinitely more harmful drug," said SAFER Campaign Director Mason Tvert. To listen to an interview with SAFER's Mason Tvert, please download the August 14, 2006 edition of the NORML Audiostash at: http://www.normlaudiostash.com/id156.htm. just an article i read on www.norml.org.... thought it was pretty friggin awesome. theyre pretty sure its gonna pass because they got over 129,000 signatures and last year a poll showed 54% in favor of this passing.
why does normal not buy air time on comedy central/other channels to spread the word to all them baked fuckers sitting on colorado couches who have no clue this is going to take place? hummm Mike...

Dude i'm not from CO but I don't care...even if the government doesn't act on the changes in the law, it still makes a huge statement. I say as many people as possible hit up Myspace and help campaign as much as possible to Colorado residence. A lot of people don't vote unless its something really important to them..hopefully this is
I live in san Fran and we all hope it passes.Just think of all the medical states and Decriminalization states now. This is growing to the point it soon can become a national vote very soon with so many states going away from fed laws. VOTES CHANGE THINGS
im really hoping this passes and doesnt fail by like 30 votes because some fucking old people voted against it
All that you need is to win by 1 vote. In California it passed 56 % only YET more than enough to get PASSED! Since then 140 clubs weed 30-60 a 8th . i WANT ALL STATES TO GO LIKE Alaska Less than 4 oz in your residence or home IS no penalty NO JAIL TIME NO FINES TAKE A LOOK http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?wtm_view=&Group_ID=4522
Go one step further, I'm seeking out folks in Colorado on myspace and sending them the message and asking them to put it in their bulletin. If we all do this we have a better shot at getting this to spread like wild fire! ha ha I have sent over 10 now to random Colorado folk, Come on everyone copy and paste the message to colorado folk... Then cross your fingers that they vote... Mike..
Here you go, here are some Denver zip codes 80002, 80010, 80012, 80014, 80022, 80033, 80123, 80127 do a myspace search for them and send out the message. Am I the only one trying to get the word out? If you wanna make a difference Help, every talks about how so cool it would be to have legal, this is how we start by getting the word out to voters. I wish NORML would sponser TV commercials in CO... but money money money is probably to blame.... Reply after you send the message to some CO folk, lets see how many hip fourm folks we can get to spread the word... Mike...
12-15 state up to 1 OZ Decriminalization: The state has decriminalized marijuana to some degree. Typically, decriminalization means no prison time or criminal record for first-time possession of a small amount for personal consumption. The conduct is treated like a minor traffic violation 9 state and growing medical pot. I hope CO gets it but Everyone better get to the polls we won by 56% only here in 96. NORML is great in the cause.
Well yesterday in the mail we got the booklet explaining all the statewide ballot iniatives. and as I was flipping through the pages there it was Amendment 44 with the legal text and then the explaination and analysis for those non-legal degree folks. One part of the hopeful law I didn't realize that you can transfer up to an ounce without compensation to someone who is 15 or older and not be doing anything wrong. Of course the 15 yr old is breaking the law because he is underage but that's a different story. NORML is great however, a lot of the work has been done by SAFER (safer alternative for enjoyable recreation) check them out at safercolorado.org. There hasn't been really any tv or radio spots for many of the initiatives but that is supposed to change in the next week or so. I've heard rumors that SAFER has a couple of TV spots but I haven't seen anything official yet The registration to vote deadline is in three days from now. SO please urge all Coloradoans not yet registere to get their asses out and register.
They will run last 2 weeks before vote almost non stop on at least 2 channels. That's what they did here in 96 for prop 215 in California ACLU on the help wagon now last few yrs. I see pot legal no later when today's 30-35yrs(me people) are 55 in white house/congress and senators. The most famous doctument we have in USA was and is and still is on HEMP PAPER!
Any updates from colorado? were getting close. whast being said on TV as far as what they think is going to happen. As for alaska I was just at norml the other day and it now says up to 1 ounce not 4 like it used to.....
They aren't saying much. They had a story on the ten oclock news a few nights ago about a discussion between the current governor and LEO and then with the proponents of Amend 44. however, the pro-pot people just started yelling and chanting during the whole governors turn and got a little bit of negative coverage. Earlier in the week one of the chief people of SAFER showed a poster at a rally with two colorado college students who died from alocohol poisoning in the last couple of school years. he said that if the students had smoked instead of drank they wouldn't have died and went on with some other stats about substance relatd deaths. Well the mother of one of the girls killed was in outrage because "She was a good girl, who made a mistkae, it wasn't who she was" whatever that's supposed to mean. All the pundits are still calling it too close. SAFER unveiled a billboard campaign early last week, too.
there was actually a big controversy over this, it was the government wording things incorrectly to flip people out about "the children", and this was obviously their work. it would be a felony to give weed to kids under the whole contributing to the deliquency of a minor thing alone.
