Hello everyone! I've recently established a group for the nature-loving tree-hugging Hippies who want to help save the planet called Mother Nature's Army (by the way I'm anti-war when it comes to idiotic political issues, but when it's for the planet, I'm game! [IMG] ).The group is basically about uniting, because there's strength in numbers, and to save the environment we need all the strength we can get, don't we? We'll have sub-groups for musicians, photographers, writers, and all sorts of talents the members would like to share. Together we can do amazing things, and if we have enough people, honestly we can do anything. HOPEFULLY in a few years we can have a convention and we'd like to set up something where able members can be called to a certain area for major cases (such as forests being cut down). Some countries we're active in are the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, South Africa, Bulgaria, Australia, Ghana, Egypt, and soon New Zealand and Germany!

The way we'll be communicating is through a newsletter and through directors of countries, states (provinces), counties, and metropolises. For all of these there will be a director, assistant director, and recorder. The newsletter for MNA members will be sent worldwide but if something relates specifically to the area it's being sent to directors can add to it. Right now we have a temporary cheapo freewebs site [IMG] until I can get together a group who'd like to make an official one. The link is www.freewebs.com/mothernaturesarmy. If you'd like to join simply sign the guestbook and leave your name, e-mail, and location, or you can contact me.

Just so you all know, joining the group is absolutely free! Honorary membership is obtainable to those who give donations or help in other ways, but this is not expected, we just would love to have your support!!! Please contact me if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help you in any way.

    Thanks,

    Jadis

Very interesting! Especially the part about saving the planet... however I looked your site and I have a question. What does your organism do? (I mean concretly)

    Good luck by the way

Well once we have people we've got lots of things we're going to do. We're going to set up a system where members can be called to a certain area when there's a crisis for the environment, like forestry, pollution, etc. Whenever we get word of something going on we'll do what we can to stop it. Also we plan on setting up a housing thing, so members can host other members that might be in their area doing work for the organization. We'll also do the easy stuff, making sure every school has proper recycling and stuff like that. Another thing is sub-groups, we'll have groups of musicians, filmmakers, writers, and stuff whose talents we'll use to publicize and educate about the group and our purpose. It's going to be a lot of fun, but first we need support and organization. We really need people who want to lead their areas, that's the first step as far as getting things in order.

Feel free to ask any more questions!

Indeed you need to get people know what you're doing. Music, film, etc. are good ways of publicity but I think the best publicity would be the action in itself.

Get the local newspaper talking about your group by actions... that way maybe you'll have more credibility when you're doing some petition or whatever. It's easy to say and hard to do, I know...

People in my area are really getting into it, so we'll probably be doing that soon. It'd be great if we had it going on in other places too.

That's right, and the sooner we get more people for the group the sooner we can start actually doing things beneficial to the cause. So tell people about it!

If anyone wants to help right now what we really need are directors. To get organized you have to have the authority figures. Did you get my PM hollowayjay?

I'm 59 and I'll be updating my will soon. I plan to leave significant contributions to Sea Shepherd Society and International Fund for Animal Welfare. Look 'em up on the internet.

Recommended reading: Mowat, Farley, "Rescue the Earth", McClelland and Stewart, Toronto, 1990, 282 pages. "[This book] is not intended to serve as a guide to all of the manifestations of the environmental movement in Canada. Rather, it is designed to provide an introduction to a selection of people in the movement and let them tell you in their own words what they believe must be done to ensure the survival in good health of a living world."

A car full of bear hunters was on its way to the mountains when they came to a sign on the road: "Bear Left". After a couple of minutes, they got the message, turned around and started driving back to town. Of course, they came to the same bend in the road but this time the sign said, "Bear Right", so they threw away their guns.

    Lonely feeling deep inside
Find a corner where I can hide
    Silent footsteps crowding me
Sudden darkness but I can see

No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me

    (Dat’n-doo-dow-dow-dat’n-doo-dow...)

In the silence of her mind
Quiet movements where I can find
Grabbing for me with her eyes
Now I’m falling from her skies

No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me

    (Dat’n-doo-dow-dow-dat’n-doo-dow...)

Jocko says "Yes," and I believe him
When we talk about the things I say
She hasn’t got the faith or the guts to leave him
When they’re standing in each other’s way
You’re tripping back now to places you’ve been to
You wonder what you’re gonna find
You know you’ve been wrong but it won’t be long
Before you leave ‘em all far behind

‘Cause it’s the new Mother Nature taking over
It’s the new Splendid lady come to call
It’s the new Mother Nature taking over
    She’s gettin’ us all
    She’s gettin’ us all.

Jocko said "No," when I came back last time
    It’s looking like I lost a friend
No use callin’ ‘cause the sky is fallin’
And I’m getting pretty near the end
    A smoke-filled room in a corner basement
    The situation must be right
A bag of goodies and a bottle of wine
We’re gonna get it on right tonight

‘Cause it’s the new Mother Nature taking over
It’s the new Splendid Lady come to call
It’s the new Mother Nature taking over
    She’s gettin’ us all
    She’s getting’ us all...
