Is it possible to loose milk supply in one boob?? My son is favoring one really bad and I'm afraid the production of the other will dry up? any advice??

Yes, if he doesn't suckle the other one, the supply will drop. However, as he suckles MORE in the favoured boob, it might maintain a high enough supply to fully satisfy him. If you don't mind lopsided breasts, and he's satisfied, then everything's peachy keen!

basically how it works is the more a baby drinks the more your breasts produce but u say he is favouring one, what is happening u not ginving that breast enough time to how do i put it full up how often does your child drink try posponing his feeds for another hour 2ndly the breast that he hardly drinks from try not to express to much rather just bear with whatever pain u get from that breats when its starts getting full as like i said the more u pump the breast the more milk u produce but but eventually u could just run out of milk eventually but u cant just run out from just the one breats thats just because he/she drinks to much from it

this is a really good point. Often, chiropractic work makes a world of difference. Or maybe one breast lets-down faster, so he likes that side better. Or one side has a more forceful letdown, or there could be a light shining in his face or tv or noise distracting him when he's on the other side. Or maybe you aren't as comfortable nursing him on that side, and he's picking up on your tension. but as long as he's nursing from both breasts some of the time, neither of them will ever totally dry up. It's all about supply and demand. If he nurses, your breasts will make more milk.

thanks to everyone who replied. my son is 7 months and he is at the stage where he gets distracted very easily. i will try the strategies of moving him, etc. this is not the first baby i've nursed (my daughter who is 3, nursed for 11 months) but just like labor its so different every time.

When Alexis was first born she'd only nurse on the left side. I had to keep her from nursing on that one for about 4 days because I didn't realize letting her nurse on only one side would make me Lucy Lopside. Haha. It was terrible.
