The kiddies have finally made it to the flower photoperiod! There's one wee runt in there but it seems healthy enough. There's plenty of space for root growth over the next couple of weeks. My question is, what sort of growth (quantity) during flower can I expect from my plants. I recently found out they are the much revered bubblegum (long story) if that helps?

Well, the next little bit, you should an explosion in growth. 12/12 flip is my favorite time, as I love the growth spurt and the girls just take off.
Depending on what your growing, you can expect 2-3 times the height now.
Your yield is going to vary depending on ur setup and light intensity.
I have a few Lifesavers and hopefully a SBX3 shows her hairs soon, I will have some of those going into 12/12.

Hopefully, BOG will pipe in, he got all the good tidbits.

The plants should at least double in size. If you have enough light now they will spurt in growth before setting buds. I hope you catch the shoot at the right time because this technique really works to increase yields. So often people grow big plants with small roots and then they are disappointed when the yields are low. Good luck Sib! :)

IN 3 weeks let us know how they are changing...

Thanks guys. I'm getting all excited now they are in flower, all the work so far has finally gone somewhere. If I can get these babies to give up any bud I will be more than happy, considering that I nearly lost the lot a couple of months ago through atrocious nute burns, poor lighting and pH lockout.

Most of the plants smell wonderful, but a couple smell like, well, like plants not of the psychoactive variety. I'm taking a wild guess that the three smelly ones will be ladies, while the other two will be boys. I shall let you know once they show sex! :)

Hey Sibannac, not to burst your bubble bro, but the smelly ones might be males. This is what I have observed and others might have seen different. I find on average, the shortest ones are female, less smelly ones are female and ones to take forever are sometimes female.

Hey BOG, what did you mean by: "I hope you catch the shoot at the right time because this technique really works to increase yields."

A couple of people I've spoken to have said the smelly ones are usually females, but I guess it could be down to the strain and any number of other factors. My wild hypothesis was in no way informed, just a hunch really. We shall see in a couple of weeks hopefully.
I seriously hope my largest isn't male, it's a beautiful plant, it's really bushy and smells great.

OK, here is a fucking twist, after 48hrs of flower the runt has already expressed sex, and its a girl woohoooo! Beautiful white pistils are protruding from several nodes, and she was-is one of the smelly kids. I wish it wasnt the runt though, shes only 10" tall. Three of the other plants have v.small growths at each node, but have yet to express sex. How could this happen so fast, could it be the strain? Or could it be that they went under the warm lights a week ago when I started winding the hours down to 12-12 from 18-6? I am confused, I thought this was meant to take at least two weeks? Could it be because they are three months old and have had a stressed upbrining? Or because they were well matured? I am running out of ideas... BOG?

3 months has a major bearing on it.
I just looked at a 5 week old Lifesaver this am that is in veg and today she showed her hairy whites too. but am desperately crossing fingers and toes, I get a female sbx3 going.

I wouldnt knock the runts, sometimes they turn into Beauty queens. I know I have had a few.

Well she is a little beauty even if she is a midget, and I love her because she's popped my grower's cherry!

Another two have expressed sex, and they are both girlies!!! The other two have what appears to be female preflowers (teardrop shape pointed up) as they look identical to the other females just without hairs yet. If they do turn out to be ladies then I will have a full batch of girls! How fucking lucky is that from bagseed!?

Out of interest, I spoke to an old friend last night who's a gardener at Dutch Passion, and she said that many of their plants have sexed at three months no matter if they are in flower or veg, so I guess that's what's happened here. And she's given me loads of fab info, I should have got back in touch with her earlier really:rolleyes:

Some Lifesavers do pre flower in veg and the longer vegged the quicker most plants will show sex in flower. Usually sex can be identified in about one week with most of my strains or other relatively fast strains. BOG

Catching the shoot is referring to the spurt of growth shortly after a transplant. I like a transplant right as I go into flowering so when the small buds are forming the plant is still rooting and spurting in rapid healthy growth. ')

Hey, thanks. I kind of thought that. Luckily, due to my setup, I naturally transplanted going into 12/12. I have to change my veg setup, as I am better dialed in now with growing, and usually going into 12/12 they are rootbound or near it. Just lately, I misjuded one and thought I had overferted it and treated it for being overferted, when actually it was underfed due to speed of growth.
Sometimes, ya can just give em to much love. hahaha
