Hey, I want to make extract, and what could i use for a solvent? I know alcohol and stuff, but where could i buy some pure alcohol, acetone, ect? im a kid and idk where to get pure alcohol and acetone and whatnot, so what could i use, and where could i get it???? HELP!!!! Thanks!
Well, if you really like ending up with a huge mess of sticky tar from making your own extract, go for it, but personally I think chewing the leaves as a quid is far superior to smoking any extract.
ethanol.. everclear would work just fine. and it would help greatly to have one of these http://home.graffiti.net/biochemajor/CIMG0217.JPG a soxhlet apparatus. the alcohol goes in the round-bottom flask (RBF), boils and travels up the side arm (large), pours over the ground plant material (which goes in the middle); the heated alcohol (which alkaloids are more soluble in, rather than cold alcohol) then travels through the smaller side arm, and goes back into the RBF, with alkaloids in solution. fresh solvent continously flushes the alkaloids into the RBF, and the condenser on top is cycled with cold water, so the solvent doesn't escape, it just drips back down onto the plant material.
everclear is what you'd use to make trashcan punch; if you have to ask, you're probably a little young to get it on your own. it's @ da licka sto' .
You can use Isopropyl 99% pure alcohol to make the extract, go to a drug store or supermarket, its rubbing alcohol, they sell it to anyone. Oh and dont drink it. And to make it not so sticky, you add in more ground up leaf after the isopropyl is done evaporating, then you take a bit more alcohol swish it all back together, and pour it into some container it will be easy to get out of.
