Again, I don't have my hands on an aloe plant..So where do I get aloe from? No gel forms right?

Can I use oil on my dreads? Obviously not all the time because like you all have stated, it slows down the proccess. But how about after a wash and I want to put it on my scalp and a LITTLE to make my dreads look nicer?

    What kind of oil?

Why not 100% aloe gel like the ones they sell in health stores? I dont see how oil'd make them look better. It wouldn't prevent frizzes, it's too light i think. Aloe works though, a little.

I use all sorts of oils in my dreads. My two yr old locks are locked up just fine. I use jasmine oil and vanilla essential oil ad sometimes teatree oil and ylang ylang too. It makes them smell nice and after a shower will tone down the frizziness a bit. I dunno, I guess once dreads are locked they are locked I don't think a lil oil hinders the process that much.
My scalp gets dry and flaky too and I think the oil helps it be moister.
    Of course everyone is different.
Aloe plants arent that hard to find, either, you could just go buy one.....

Just go into a lil import shop or a bigger one like amos n andies or a head shop or place that sells, you know, incense and scarves and candles and stuff and buy whichever essential oils you want. They usually ony cost about 3 to 20 dollars. You can tone em down a bit by mixing em with grapeseed oil if you want to, or make your own blends with many different scents.

tea tree is antibacterial and good for itchiness amd bug prevention

vanilla is one of the only universally appreciated scents, it goes back to breatsfeeding-unless you don't get along with your ma or something

    ylang ylang is an aphrodesiac

lavender oil is good for just about everything-look it up- smells nice too

Just don't overdo it on the oils cause then you'll just be greasy. I find it keeps my locks a lil softer too.

iuse oils in mine sometimes too ilike your mix there crystaleyes ;)
i just go to venders down the street and mix up some oils just whatever feels right at the time
you can create your own mild conditioners
even some herbal teas are good to spray on your locks
but i find just using a teatree soap does the trick

apple cidar vinagar rinces provly would help u most ..diluted pretty good..then just lil bit of oils maybe misted on or dabbed on problem spots.. but wouldnt use alot

I don't MIND paying 21 dollars..but just for something worth it.

Don't buy knottlyboy :) *sorry soaring eagle* Its expensive. google google google. It'sll be just as easy to google stuff for you as it is for me. I never by anything other than plane tickets off the interweb, but that's just me, no credit card and all. There is life beyond computers though Betta. I'll bet the nearest city to whereever it is that you're at has sum oils and drbronners and aloe vera plants, heck, walmart might even have aloe vera plants. Just go for a natural soap, you can tell if its natural or not by reading the ingredients. You can use a plain old bar of soap to wash your scalp too. www.drbronners.com <----I found that adress on my soap :)
    Have fun dready mama!
