Banning guns

sounds just like the illogical arguments used to ban all drugs. lets ban cars, they kill people. ladders kill people.

i hunt, have no criminal record, so i strongly disagree with taking my guns.

Could somebody explain to me why in Canada the gun kill rate is 8 times less? Please, I want to know.

so guns should be illegal because someone could misuse it and shoot someone?

should cars be illegal because someone could accidently or purposly kill someone with it?
should alcohol be illegal because it leds to bad health and dui's?
should knives be illegal because someone could misuse them to kill?
pools? ladders? rope? the list goes on.

the fact is, your taking guns away from people who lawfully buy them and use them. The minority who use them for crimes buy them illegally anyway, so your not taking their guns.

when you outlaw guns, only outlaws have guns. those being the govt and bad guys.

no thanks, i have never broken the law or used my guns in a wreckless manor, and i refuse to have someone take them away because they "might get shot"

I guess I slaughtered the hell out of them paper targets the other day and killed my family for 20 years and never knew it and they are still breathing so they are just too damn dumb to know that they were killed too.

I'm sorry, i'm going to answer this topic without reading previous posts. Well i saw the Poll results and i was very disapointed in seeing that most people want to keep guns.

I'll just explain my point of view by telling a fictional story, i hope you read it.

A guy went home at night and turned on the news and saw in it a statistic prooving that in his city crime and violence was growing each year. Next day when he's going to work he gets mugged by some people and gets spanked. In that same say he buys a gun to protect himself. Next day when he was walking back home he gets accidently face to face with the guys who mugged him and when they approach him he fires the gun hitting one of the burglars and runs away.
A year has passed and he continues he's daily routine, but suddenly a car stops by him in the sidewalk and he gets shot. He dies. The very same friends of the guy he shoot one year ago where looking for him for revenge.

Conclusion, fear buys guns, not you. The guys who where stealing people bought guns because of the fear of being counter-attacked by their victims. Those guys steal because they have to, they need to, society left them since they where childs, their parents had the same treatment so they could not afford to get their education. Guns lead to more guns, more guns lead to more violence and fear which leads to more guns and more violence... and this prepatuates for eternity.

A powerfull speech from the deep of your heart and soul can be far more effective than a gun. Love can heal and fix everything in the world. Spread it, it will grow, watch the world change so.

Well maybe... just maybe... if we outlawed the manufacture of guns rather than the actual ownership of them we might (slowly... yeah like decades) see some change.

On a more serious note Who here can tell me the name of say 5 gun companies? Could we ban the import of them as well? Let's discuss the possiblilty of limiting the number/types of guns rather than the notion of removing them from people.

Hell San Quinton prison has a display of weapons that inmates made there including a .38 semi auto pistol made entirely of plumbing supplies. The maker chose .38 becuase that was the weapon guards used back when it was made.

Even if they try the banning the making of munitions all that will do is drop ya back to making use of black powder again (loads of it around my part of the world along river banks in the ridges).

6 shot black powder pistol, great close range, deadly as hell and load it a little rich and you will never see the shooter leave from all the smoke, lol

One thing that can be said for the human race, they are inventive in seeking ways to get around authority. Tell us NO and be damned if we wont find a way to do it anyway.
