so winter is coming soon, and seeing as i live by buffalo, NY, we're gonna being getting quite a bit of snow, and going outside to smoke is going to be hard, seeing as you have to walk a good distance off campus just to be safe and not get caught. well, me a couple of other people at my college were thinking of putting some money together and buying a vaporizor, most likely a vapor bros, as they seem the best for the money, by far. so heres what i need to know: is this thing gonna set off the smoke alarms in our dorms? i understand that the whole point of a vaporizor is that you get vapor, not smoke, but that doesnt mean they work perfectly and you get no smoke. so lets say we get the heating down to a science, or at least get decent at it, and dont burn our shit, is there any way this is going to trip the alarms? also, dont bother suggesting we screw with the alarms; theyre not the average ones w/ batteries, they're all part of some crazy system, where they can monitor them and shit through computers, and i dont wanna get caught fucking with it, as theres a very large fine for that, much worse than getting caught smoking (or vaporizing) in your room actually. so thats one issue, and the other is smell. ive heard and read that they dont leave any odor, is that really true? thanks in advance for your help.
at 1 local university ithink there was a descrimination lawsuite cause the smoke alarms detected pot smoke but not cigs..so they sued em for descriminating against potheads
I have a volcano so it isn't possible to combust the plant matter with it. There is a smell, but I wouldn't worry about it. Just have a towel by the door cracks and maybe an air freshener. -Mike
do you mean for using the vaporizor and getting rid or the smell? if so, thats prolly my best bet, but i dont like using them if i dont have to (i dont like to deal with more than i have to when getting high). i was just wondering if theres almost no smell (or lasting smell), and i wouldnt have to use anything, that would be best. if you meant a sploof with SMOKING weed, im gonna have to say id rather not take the chance, these alarms are pretty sensative, alot of ppl get caught, even if you're careful and sit right by the window w/ a fan.
if you are interested in making your own vape, here is a link to my thread! http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137101 anyhoo, my experience with vaps is reduced smell, although I'm not sure how much less since I'm the one vaping...if I could have someone come in one me while vaping and telling me if it smells... but make a sploof to exhale, that'll do the trick. how sensitive are the alarms? there shouldn't be any problem if you are inhaling all the vapor, and exhale into you sploof....make it so it retains the exhaled vapor.
well i just bought a vape, i got the vaporwarez off ebay for a little under 200 bucks. there is definetly far less smoke than smoking any other method - at first, you probably won't know how to use the vape and you'll burn it too much and there will be a bit of smoke. however, even in that case the smoke won't be anywhere but in the tube and then in your lungs. breathe out of a window. make sure you don't release much smoke in the room, because for all we know those smoke detectors could be fuckin amazin. is there one right in your room? if there's not, you should be fine. maybe make a little tube that goes out the window, and just breathe out through that. i know my roommate across the hall generally knows when i'm smoking out of my vape, even if my door is closed and a towel is under the door, if i don't blow out the window. it's all about blowing out the window. good luck bro, if you need advice on buying a vape feel free to PM me, or check out my other thread ("Vaporizer Options" i think its called)
oh, just wanted to add that i saw these little circular things that apparently 'eliminates 100 percent of smoke' at a store the other day. i don't know if it's bullshit or not, but go to your local dollar store and snoop around, you might see something like it.
I think a vaporizer is the best bet. I would go with the BC Vaporizer. It's pretty small, low priced(ifyou get from their website) and it's a REAL vaporizer; not a lightbulb.

aight bro get a vapolution its a green indirect heat source that looks like a fish pump of somekind without the tube in it (the glass part of the tube is the only downside because it breaks). turns on with the flick of a switch and you turn the vap knob to 3 o'clock for perfect temp. now you wont know if you get a hit by the amount of vapor you blow out because even if you get a monster hit theres like no smoke, your throat will just starth to itch and you start coughing a shit load. and then once your done smoking it smells like you just burnt a bag of popcorn so mayb have a burnt bag of popcorn in your dorm room.
yeah I've got the hotbox and I love it. Same situation, I use it to smoke in the dorms (although now I found out my RA smokes we just hit the bong, but the vape is still nice to my lungs)

Hey bro, no worries, just get a high quality vaporizer and you wont ever get busted... some of the low end ones tend to burn the weed accidentally, this will get you narkd!!!
