Im growing pot in my closet, and i have about 2ft of celing clearence,i need a lighting schedule so i can grow in the closet and i dont think i have the room to grow for very long.what is a good lighting schedule so i can have a harvest in the amount of time it takes to fill up the 2ft space.
Won't that cause the plant to go into shock? thats what i read in a book, also i have another question will a 30 watt flouresent tube cover 3 plants because ive been told for flouresents 22 watts per sq foot and my garden is like 1x1.5x2
hmmm not too sure if this applies to flourescents but i know with HID lights its a general rule of 50Watts per sq foot. Being that HID lights are brighter then flourescents i would think you would need more than 50watts per sq foot if using flourescents. Not too sure on it tho. And no that wont cause shock on the plants.....the light schedule dash suggested is right. also a 30watt flourescent wont be enough to flower 3 plants.......probably not even enough to finish vegging.....but who knows. good luck. - 42o -
22w per sq foot would only be enough fo fresh seedlings or clones. You'll need atleast 2600 lumens per plant. What book did you read that changing from 18/6 to 12/12 will cause shock in the plant?
if i add some really cheap 100 watt plant lights(regular incondesent bulb)will i be any better off. im compleatly broke so i cant spend any money on anything.are MH bulbs on street lights?? i could steal one but i dont know how to make a ballast and reflector.
ok first of all.....incandescents do NOT grow MJ. Compact Flourescents (CFL) are way cheap i would buy a couple of those at walmart. Soft white and warm white. Cheap and will beat a incandescent any day of the week. Street lights usually have HPS not MH but if you "acuire" one then yes it will work great for flowering and just OK for veg. But like you stated you would have to make your own ballast and get a reflector. Anyways....steer clear of the incandescents.....at the bare minimum use CFL's. - 42o -
Street lights in the UK are Low pressure sodium not suitable for growing. Hps lights are used in factories etc and are called low bay lights. I got my first one from a factory I worked at. There exactly the same as grow lights except they don't have a seperate ballast hence they are a quite heavy. You can buy a 400W low bay light from an electrical wholesaler for about £40.
im gonna try and find some work and buy some more expensive equipment, but for now i should be set with a few CFLs one on top and two at the sides.
