I was having a conversation with my mom the other day about the baby boomers compared to the gen x'ers and the milleniols, and why were so muich differnt then they were. ive been reading alot about the differnt generations lately, and come to the relization (well really just my opinion) that the boomers wernt very good parents and arnt aging very well. i think the #1 thing that got to me was, just the fact that over half of generation x's parents were divorced, as compared to only about 10 percent of the baby boomers parents. all these kids were growing up in homes with only 1 parent, and right at the time when women were getting more jobs so they were with their baby sitters all day or at latch key instead of with their parents. why did so many of the boomers marry so young and get divorced is beyong me. another is the obvious gen x believing their parents sold out by being such free spirits in the 60's and 70's then turning around and telling them not to do all the stuff they did. the differnce in generations is when the boomers were little kids they grew up in optimistic homes being told the world is theirs, hence their whole "we can change the world" attitude. the x'ers grew up in broken homes without parents watching them in a time when many were losing their jobs from downsizing with x-hippy parents telling them the world was horrible, hence they had the angst ridden care about nobody but myself attitude. now the milleniols are differnt all together but i'm not what to say about them yet (weird since it's my own generation).

    what a load of tripe.
The marriage rate has been climbing since 1900 in the US.

When all that is expected of a woman is to breed and clean, then why wait?
Go back and look at the percentage of males that got post secondary education rather than a Union card or the keys to the tractor.
the boomers did fine raising their kids. We just hear (or create) the horror stories. Was it perfect? hell no. Was it adequate and do most of those kids have a handle on how to live? yes.

what do you mean we just here and creat the horror stories, myself and all my friends parents are boomers, and myself and mabey 1 other person i know have parents that are still together. now i'm not saying they were horrible parents, but i mean our generation is regarded as selfish, but i think once the boomers aged a bit they got selfish too. i look around at the middle aged people now and i certainly dont see those kids that were in the 60's, i see normal middle aged people no differnt from the 55 year olds of 20 years ago. and another thing (i no i sound like i'm really not liking the baby boomers, but i do, these are just rants and things i'm thinking of right now), the boomers have a generation gap with their parents, a generation gap with their kids (gen x), who do they get along with besides their own generation?

are people actually being offended by this? it was just a rant. be polite, i'd rather an intelligent response then an angry one, thats just silly.

Of course baby boomers divorce more than there their parents, it's because back then (before the 60's) it was socially unacceptable! If divorce was accept in the 1920-1930 don't you think there would have been alot of divorces?

Which of these should get " an intelligent response"?

    or
Folks come to a Hippie forum, and say that all Hippies over 42 years old "suck" and are "locust", and you're surprised to get an angry reply.

You're right, sorry. My anger was misdirected and not all caused from anything here. I'll put my thoughts together & post them ASAP.

    Peace,

"The 19th Century spoke of Class warfare, we have now Generational Warfare. When government policy is made with the mantra "Who cares, I will be dead by then"; we have a problem. When half the population is so selfish that they waste our energy, buy up affordable housing for their rental profits, keeps wages at 1970 levels, indebt us with student loans, lower program spending and raise taxes, we have a problem. When government is dominated by those who cause these problems, when governments refuse to even admit there is a problem; we have a problem.

I have said before that the Baby-Boom are like Generational locusts, as they maraud through their lives, they steal from generations before and after. Our National debt? Spent on and by the Baby Boomers, our environmental problems massively exacerbated because the Baby-Boom decided that fuel-efficiency is lame, SUVs are cool. And when it comes time for the Baby-Boom to retire, to give another generation a chance on top, they will fight further still; a plague of locusts that will hold on until the last breath.

I have said before that we are the Hangover Generation, we come after one of histories greatest drinking binges; the problem as I see it though, is that it is well after 6am, and the party is still going strong, the shots are pouring and no one seems to be passing out. When this hangover does finally hit, it's going to be so punishing that it's no wonder none of the party-goers want to live to see it."
