Can anyone suggest any easy to care for indoor plants that flower during the winter season?

It has to be abe to survive with litte to no sunight and only getting full spectrum bulb light.

Its getting a little to green around my indoor jungle :p and I need to spice it up with some color during those bland winter months coming.

    Thanks!

I know cacti are supposed to be easy, but I have killed every one I have ever had. My peace lily blooms quite frequently, though. It's only white, but still pretty and easy to care for. I do like african violets. I have a rex begonia that is beautiful. It doesn't have flowers (that I know of) but the leaves are red and green and white. It is beautiful. Like this:

It is pretty easy to care for as well. It definately adds color.:)

If you have a little sunlight cyclamen will do not too badly and the are quite forgiving if you forget to water them. The also have a lovely citrus perfume. Make sure you dead head regularly and the plant will blossom more. Christmas cacti as already mentioned are not like the regular thorny cactus and they do much better when out of direct sunlight. I am not a cactus lover either - just as well I live in Scotland!! Christmas cactus is different somehow. Perhaps a wander round your local garden centre would inspire you? Have fun anyway!

    Thanks everyone!

Thanks! I pickedup a couple Christmas Cacti(?). One is already flowering. Im quite pleased.

I love peace lillies also!. African violets dont do well for me, I think because the temperture in my house changes often.

The begonia is gorgeous! I think I will check out the garden centres for a couple of those. They will defanitly brighten up the green forest atmosphere.
    Thank you!

I love cyclamen but they dont love me at all. Every single one I've brought home has eventually gotten infested and has died while trying to combat the infestation. I will probably pick up one and try again. Thanks for the suggestion

While I was watering my indoor plants this morning I was thinking about how lucky I am to have lots of light in my house and your problem with growing flowering plants and your lack of light. Did you think ever consider putting up mirrors in your home to help reflect natural light? Watch where they go from a Feng Shui perspective though!

Re the cyclamen - over watering can cause rotting and infestation. They like to be quite "dry"
