Usually when I go from 1 state to another I have gone by greyhound bus except this month I flew on continental airlines. Seeing as I haven't had a car for few years, I will use public buses to get around the city or walk when something is close by.

trains are my first love. shank's mares are my most freequent mode for less then a few miles. i've been known to walk 15 occasionaly and once even 22 in a single day. but it's been a while for anything over about a mile and a quarter. local bus for anywhere i can get to on that i can't get there as quick by walking as by waiting for it. unless i just want to get inside and ride arround where it's cool and it's not too long before one going my way is going to come along.

for anything beyond the range of local bussess, there and back the same day, local intercity trains, are my favorite and i wish there were a LOT more of them.

we've got more now then we've had in a while but still not as many in proportion to population as we did when i was growing up.

i don't mind riding in someone's car if they don't mind, but i really get a lot more enjoyment out of riding on a train. not only the train itself, though that's a big part of it, but also what you see from the train as opposed to a car or bus on the freeway.

on the road you mostly only see what the ambient idiological pretentions want you to see. from the train you see every industry, bussiness and person's back yards, how they actualy live. and really fascinating bits and pieces that inspire me as to things that could be made out of. and also nature. you see critters of all kinds a lot. and wild and semiwild vegitation, way better and more then you can from a bus or car unless you're on a really really back road.

Sorry to be un-ecological, but it has to be car. Planes scare me, trains in the UK are crap! and buses are always crowded. Boats aint too bad tho.

Well, I feel better when I walk, although where I live now almost nothing is within walking distance, so I just walk for exercise.

My favorite way to travel other than walking is the train, but they're becoming almost extinct in this part of the country, so I basically have to drive almost everywhere I go. I hate driving, but I really have no choice.

I really like walking, it makes me feel more in control, more grounded, more calm and happy, and it's like meditation. It's just so easy to walk, it's simple, it requires little stress.

It's just too bad I can't walk everywhere, sometimes(lots of times) I have to use a car or plane, or bus I'd like to start using a bike eventually.

    But I really hate flying.
