Hey guys, planning a first time trip to amsterdam on Nov 23 to Nov 27th. Are these hotels any good? Im more concerned with location rather then hotel quality, although it does matter.

    novotel amsterdam

    ibis centre

    Krasnapolsky

    Park hotel

    best western lancaster

    Thanksss

never stayed at these two but the locations are great and everybody seems to give them positive reviews. what is your budget, how many in your group?

I've never stayed in any of the hotels you've mentioned but several people I know have stayed at the park hotel, krasnapolsky and ibis. All good hotels by what they say.

i've stayed in Ibis hotels in several European cities and find that they have a consistent standard of quality as well as cleanliness and service. The rooms are tidied and beds remade in a timely fashion. This chain of hotels hasn't let me down yet.

The others I don't know although I do know that a lot of people on this and other boards seem to like Krasnapolsky.

I didn't stay at the Kras but I almost did instead of the Singel. I have heard GOOD things about it and they have great room service, which is nice. I'm stuck on my little hotel that I fell in love with though. Don't know if I'll ever stay anywhere else. I stayed on a canal with no boat or tram sounds... sweet peace and a beautiful view from the 4th floor, not to mention VERY close to my favorite coffeeshops. :)

    Peace,
    islandgurl

For hotels in this price range the NH Amsterdam Centre has a pretty good deal that weekend -- buy 3 nights get one night free; includes buffet breakfast for 2 every morning.

by artis zoo? F that.... too far east imho

not much public transportation out that way. if its REALLY close to the zoo then I think there is one tram line. other then that you will have to learn the bus schedule or endure a 15 minute walk just to get to the RLD.

Make sure you go to Bluebird and get the Blue Cheese!!! Awesome stuff :) I'll be arriving on the 17th, BONG. Maybe we could meet up somewhere like Amnesia. GREAT place to hang with excellent mint leaf tea MMMMMMM and even better weed. :D Make sure you print a copy of NEMESIS' coffeeshop map... it helps IMMENSELY! Here's a link...
    Amsterdam Coffeeshops by Nemisis

If you can't print it out, right click on it and click on "save picture as", name it and save it. Then print it out from wherever you saved it to. Usually your pictures, maybe documents. Nem's GREAT for doing this, thank you again, NEM! It was my map the last 2 times I've been to the dam. See you there soon!

    Peace,

WOW you ARE prepared, aren't you???? LOLOL Ok I'm totally impressed. I love my map but it's not a gps ;)

Amnesia Haze is one of my FAVES... yep we'll have a good smoke. Do you know how to roll those cone j's? I don't, but I've watched quite a bit. Maybe one day I'll get it, but I don't even roll here so... I think the cones are cool for over there and more than one person, but I would never smoke them here like that the way I use a pipe. It goes much further here that way. Sure am looking forward to a big fatty with some American friends over there though wheeeeeeeeeeeeee see you soon, BONG!! :)

you are 5 minutes south of central station.
you have a tram stop extremely close by.
the western canal belt is just 1-2 blocks to the west.
the main red light district is just a few blocks east.
a smaller red light district a couple blocks southeast.
there are some nice bars and clubs on nieuwezijds voorburgwal but most clubs are down near the leidseplein, the rembrandtplein, and overtoom.
    absinthe bar is near you.

www.dnb.nl has info on some shows. click on "agenda" (its the party calendar)
