Lather was thirty years old today, They took away all of his toys. His mother sent newspaper clippings to him, About his old friends who'd stopped being boys. There was Harwitz E. Green, just turned thirty-three, His leather chair waits at the bank. And Seargent Dow Jones, twenty-seven years old, Commanding his very own tank. But Lather still finds it a nice thing to do, To lie about nude in the sand, Drawing pictures of mountains that look like bumps, And thrashing the air with his hands. But wait, oh Lather's productive you know, He produces the finest of sound, Putting drumsticks on either side of his nose, Snorting the best licks in town, But that's all over... Lather was thirty years old today, And Lather came foam from his tongue. He looked at me eyes wide and plainly said, Is it true that I'm no longer young? And the children call him famous, what the old men call insane, And sometimes he's so nameless, That he hardly knows which game to play... Which words to say... And I should have told him, "No, you're not old." And I should have let him go on...smiling...babywide.
those lyrics you just posted, made me know that i am definately getting the album that song is on. which album? haha
Trippedelia, the song is 'Lather', and the album is Crown of Creation. My personal favourite? Probably Crown or Baxter's. I find Crown to be a bit preachy, like they're attempting to be high-brow but just coming across as melodramatic on some of the later tracks. But 'Greasy Heart' is awesome, and I love 'Triad' so much that I perform it myself all the time. Grace's voice is so seductive on that track...
But the worse of the airplanes gives more compile hits from the jefferson airplane and it includes all the best hits including Lather.
or ..................Today I feel like pleasing you more than before Today I know what I want to do but I don't know what for To be living for you is all I want to do To be loving you it'll all be there when my dreams come true Today you'll make me say that I somehow have changed Today you'll look into my eyes, I'm just not the same To be anymore than all I am would be a lie I'm so full of love I could burst apart and start to cry Today everything you want, I swear it all will come true Today I realize how much I'm in love with you With you standing here I could tell the world what it means to love To go on from here I can't use words, they don't say enough Please, please listen to *****me****** It's taken so long to come true And it's all for you all for you....
my favorite album is after bathing at baxters for sure! I love it lyrically. two heads and wont you try/saturday sfternoon are my favorite songs
mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn jefferson airplane is my love i like surrealistic pillow with white rabit and somebody to love and 3/5 of a mile in a second but i love volunteers which they sang at woodstock and a lot more
Jefferson Airplane are my joint favourite band along with Pink Floyd and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.I can't really pinpoint a favourite album.. but if I had to,I'd say Surrealistic Pillow.Although some of my favourite Airplane songs are drawn from their other albums,I think Surrealistic Pillow was the most complete one.
maaan jefferson airplane rule.. love em :') especially magic carpet ride, that manages to make me feel good everytime i hear it.. ^^
Who else is in love with Jefferson Airplane? Me! No favorites other than to say the *real* JA before Marty and Spencer left (so, the range of Surrealistic Pillow through Volunteers...plus Kantner's Blows Against The Empire). Spencer Dryden (immortalized by Grace in "Lather") is the most under-rated drummer in rock history. I don't pick anyone as "best", but he deserves far more credit than he gets. RIP, dude...I miss you!
