How many times did it take to break through?

I'm relatively new to Salvia, having smoked it a half dozen times. Based on reports I've read I still haven't had a full-on trip (y'know, visions, other places, people etc ) . Friends who've tried it with me, three of them, all get the uncontrollable giggles, but it's definitely not a giggly experience for me so far.

It feels very strong, and I tend to get a little spooked, but I find it absolutely fascinating. I'm experienced with many other hallucinogens, so I know a strong effect when I feel it, but that strong effect hasn't translated so far into an immersive experience, where i 'go somewhere else'....

    Anybody had/having a similar time?

the whole concept of going somewhere else is enough to tell me to avoid it
tripping can be freaky enough in the here & now

Hey bushbaby.. I also find salvia to be one of the most fascinating medicines around. It shouldn't be hard to break through on salvia if you have a good extract and are smoking it correctly. Try a 15x or 20x out of a bong and hold it in for a good 20-30 seconds. Good luck, and make sure you're in a safe and comforable place.

    thanks pfunk910,

actually it was the 20x that i've smoked. I think I might be psychologically "resisting" when I feel it hit. Or I might be in too much of a "waiting for it to happen" mode rather than a "go with it" mode.

Anyway, even though I've been a bit spooked a couple of times, I haven't experienced any of this "intense terror" I've read about so I'll be ploughing ahead and exploring some more...

ummm i'm a bit confused by this
why are u so interested in experiencing intence terror?

reminds me of this thing i saw where ppl would pay big bucks to stage mock kidnappings & stuff to experience that terror

personaly if i trip i want it to be a beautiful experience not 1 that leaves me shaking & scared
if u want terror.. go to war..
you dont need that in your mind

just my opinion..from someone whoin no way sees the attraction to such frightening experiences

A salvia "breakthrough" can be one of the most beautiful and mystical experiences of your life, if you only let it. It's deals a lot with intent and respect.

lol soaringeagle, I meant I would continue to explore because I hadn't had a terrifying reaction to Salvia, I didn't mean I was exploring for terror. Not my bag at all.

You could break through the first time on a higher extract, like 20x or 15x. If you don't, then the reverse tollerance will do its magic! Salvia is a great herb, but be warned, it is a very intense journey! Have fun!

    let's just say
the dosage is more complicated because the vendors are not consistent.
if you do get the right dose you go to level 4 and are not scared.
if you get more you are scared at level 5, and a bit more than that you are at level 6 amnesia - you remember very little at all.

people who like to dose strongly have the wrong approach for salvia.
with this one you have to dose gently.

in any case it is totally non-toxic. so the people who go to amnesia are unharmed but ego bruised.

We get it... you're too afraid to do salvia. Don't expect everyone to feel the same way as you. You're in no place to judge what other people do or don't like doing.

OK this is the way I see it. soaringeagle doesnt have the head for salvia, so he doesnt have to do it, but if you wanna break through, all you gotta do is take a lot. Get some 20x and just take 2-3 lungfulls, ive started measuring my dose by the lungfull, rather than the weight, it seems to be easier to calculate the trip that way.
Anyway even if you have an intensely frightening experience (usually you arent scared until you realize whats going on, near the end) salvia peaks usually dont last past 5 mins, so its not so bad.

Man, I've broken through on just one 'lung full' of 20x. I don't think I'd be physically able to take more after that... right after the exhale it usually takes me a few second to even realize I just smoked salvia.

And then the why stage comes in.

The first time I broke through was when I decided to try chewing the leaves as a quid. I wasn't able to make a breakthrough simply by smoking it, but then again I was only smoking 5X.
