Feelin' a bit down today...

I just don't know what to say anymore...

I read an article today about how the US government passed a bill back in 1927, Buck vs. Bell, allowing the sterilization of "defective" citizens. Basically, the government didn't want you having kids if you showed any sign of being incompetent or lazy or even promiscuous. In the 60s and 70s, 99% of those who were sterilized were women, and 60% were black. The article interviewed a woman who had attempted to have a child, but her doctor told her she had been sterile for years. She later found out that her asshole of a father and her illiterate grandmother had signed the consent forms...without her consent. The other woman interviewed was told by some government official(s) that her family wouldn't receive welfare if she refused to be sterilized. And 70,000, just like them...

And then this new torture bit...

I just don't know what to say. I could tell you that when I'm 18, I'm headin' off to the Caribbean and never setting foot on this land again. But I'd be lying. I cried twice today, once after reading this article, and the second time when I heard the news about the new torture law on the radio. I love America so much, I couldn't leave.

But I hate that I can't do a damn thing about it. We're digging a hole deeper than the earth itself, no matter which party controls Congress, or who sits in that Oval Office. We're screwed, no matter what. But I can't leave. Too much of my soul, my virtue, lives inside the word "America."

Maybe "America" is dead, but I'm tied to it with a ball and chain.

Gaaaahh, I don't know what to do.

 

I don't believe the American dream will ever exist again for the general and common middle-class.

And... I know how you feel, Teh Kryz. It's either Canada or St. Somewhere, but next Summer I could be on the West coast with a dozen other people who I know. We're planning a trip from Mexicali/San Diego area to Tofino, BC and on to Alaska.

I'd rather go out while on a journey than face a life of trying to keep my head above the water.

Let's face it. This country was founded by a bunch of rich white socialites and politicians who did not want to pay their taxes to the royal crown... and it was the only war truly worth fighting, to me, being a The civil war would be above that, save it were not Mr. Lincoln's shitpile creation to force Southern colonies into the industrial revolution and demonize us.

I actually was sayin' that no matter how much I'd like to run away to Canada or elsewhere, I'll never be able to. I'll sink with the goodship America, they've got me tied up to the bow.

But see, that's just the thing. Look at the Constitution, man. It's crazy! A timeless document, meant to protect us from our own government and others. Big Dog rolleyes: ) said it perfectly on the radio show today...The Constitution is officially on life support.

Eh, the civil war's a whole nother pot of coffee.

 

I know what you mean... it's that no matter how much you know you want to leave it, it's stuck in you.

 

Anyone who studies history will be either depressed by or cold to human suffering.

Human history is a saga of people struggling against impossible odds to do something right and almost always failing.

Don't feel too down though.

 

They used to sterilise natives in the Americas and Australia, and they still do it to Roma gypsies in Romania.

 

i wish i could get outta america to. all i ever hear about us is terrible things. "we have a terrible president!" "We cant solve the illegal immigrates from mexico into our economy!" "We are stuck in a way!" "Price of living is to high!" "price of gas is to high!" oi...i almost wanna get outta this place just so i dont have to hear people complaning about it. my philosphy is, "if there is a way to fix it, then try to fix it yourself", but i dont think there is anything i can do by myself to fix anything thats really wrong here. thats why im just keepin my head in the clouds till i get outta this place.

i was thinking about it yesterday, and the only reason that would keep me from leaving this country would be my mom, i wouldn't want to leave my mom here

 

well, some people are probably not going to like what im about to say, but, hey, its a free country, right?!

that sterilization thing sucks, esp. since they didnt have a chance to decide. But I think that we should be licensed to have kids. Think about all the unwanted, neglected, drug-addicted children in the world. There are some people who are completely incapable of caring for kids. We have to have a license to drive, to fish, to own a buisness, but not to procreate. I feel for those people who want kids that cant have any, and those that have kids that dont want to.

wouldnt it be so convenient if we could turn our reproductive juices off and on like a faucet?
