My last experience with peruvian torch powder involved 45-60 grams (various stupid mistakes lost a bunch here and there, due to first time dealing with powder), mixing it roughly 30 grams at a time, with milk, chocolate syrup, ice cream and some banana chunks in a blender and guzzling the shake. It didn't taste horrible, and it got the job done. The trip was great (one hit of acid helped), but I had an excuciating stomache ache most of the time and awful shits throughout. I had these symptoms before when I tried ingesting whole cacti in a boiled-down soup, and I thought with the powder they would be diminished, but I was way wrong. Although maybe it was just the mixture of cacti and milk that did me in (some guide mentions that milk is a bad idea but doesn't specify why), I'm going to try one of the simpler extraction processes for the next time. I'm not up to doing a fancy acid-base extraction, at least not now, so I've settled on either a citrate mixture boiled way way down or an alcohol extraction. I have some questions about both: For the citrate mix: 1. Should I use lemons, limes, citric acid (sour salt), or ascorbic acid (acidic vitamin C)? A combination? Do they all get the job done equally well? 2. How much of any of the above is necessary? Look at the 12th pic down in this guide (big pictures, sorry!). He's gotten his shit (that started out as cactus goop in acidified water) down to a syrup-ish goo. Should that be the aim? Would you need a whole bunch of whatever you mix in to achieve that? Can it be too acidic? I'm really just trying to avoid the stomache ache For the alcohol extraction: 1. The techniques I've looked at say that this method takes several days to work. I assume the amount of time needed depends upon how much powdered cacti you're using. Has anyone tried this with around 90 g of p.torch powder? 2. The pics of whats left after an alcohol extraction look nasty. I guess you'd put in in gel caps. Has anyone tried eating or making a drink out of the stuff? Finally, has anyone tried boiling down a cacti acidic liquid solution to a goo, letting it dry some, and then doing an alcohol extraction? I was thinking this might be a way to speed up the alcohol extraction by making the amount of stuff you extract from smaller and more potent, maybe with less of the other alkoloids? Like you turn the powder in to a cacti-citrate soup, boil it down to a goo and then let it dry some, then do the alcohol extraction, but I really don't know jack about chemistry so I dunno if this idea is good or stupid. Would something bad happen, like between the citric or ascorbic acid and the alcohol? Would the mescaline being a salt, the result of cacti being in the citrate solution, fuck up the alcohol extraction in some way? Ok. Way too long of a post. Any answers or tips or suggestions or personal experiences would be very much appreciated.
ok, how about just one question: Is it really necessary to soak the powder in alcohol for up to a week?
