research has come out that your 50 times less likely to die in a car accident in a big 4x4 car or a people carrier than you are in a small car . would this effect your choice of car if you were going to buy a car , considering that big cars use more fuel and have more impact on the enviroment . what are your views on cars , do you have one, going to get one, can you live without one, do you like bikes horses or whatever http://motoring.aol.co.uk/size-matters-with-car-safety/article/20061013110809990037?CLI=15996785
You are probably also fifty times more likely to die if you're hit by one of these things. I hate the huge Humvee style SUV people carriers that are starting to appear everywhere here now. We're not America I hate cars. They make urban life a dirty smelly dangerous misery. Not to mention the environmental problems they cause. There's no need for them to be in cities other than the selfishness of the drivers. We should congestion charge in every city and commuter route and tax these inefficient cars off the road.
The reason why you are less likely to die in an SUV is because YOU are in the car CAUSING THE ACCIDENTS!!!!!!
these huge cars make me sick. they're so dangerous to pretty much everyone in like a mile radius around them. especially kids. if a toddler was hit by a 4x4, he/she would almost certainly die. i guess it's because never grew up around cars (my parents don't own one, and i certainly won't ever even take a driving test) that i hate the things with such a passion. i either walk or take public transport. so much better than the anti-social, mega-expensive, bricks-on-wheels known as cars.
I have a car and use it to travel to work and transport my children to their extr-curricular activities. Living in a rural environment cars are a necessity unless you decide to deny your children their opportunities. I hate 4x4's with a vengence and can only observe those that drive them as selfish individuals, another thing noticed is quite often these are the same people who insist on collecting children from school gates in cars rather than walking, another superior attitude.
I would never drive a massive gas guzzler, they're selfish, wasteful and bloody expensive to run for that. They should be banned, or priced off the road wherever they exist...
Exactly. I said to my parents "I never want to take a driving test". That is the reason, Thy pollute the earth AND the people around them. This is coming from someone who was hit by a car. If everyone cycled, used public transport and walked the world would be a safer and healthier place. Luckly, My city is taking note of this.
Gas Guzzlers aren't cool and new cars aren't as sturdy anyways. I loves me 19 year old car... a lorry hit it and there's not a trace that a full-artic hit it, just a wee dent. Go on survival-Mazda!
yes you may be 50 times less likely to die in a 4x4 acident but you are more likely to crash. clarkson did a programme on 4x4, he tested lodes of them & even crashed a few. they are not as adgile as cars so if you swerve to avoid something on the road (dog, car, accident on motorway) it will turn & just flip on its side & roll & roll & roll. unlike a car which would be able to move out of the way. cars can also stop in a shorter distance than a 4x4 can, i cant remember why but 4x4's seem to have a longer stopping distance than cars. his conclusion was that yes you are less likely to be injured in a 4x4 but you are more likely to crash, and if you hit a car the pasangers are likey to be injured. in a way this is quite 2 faced of clarkson because he drives his kids to school in a range rover vogue.
It's a nice notion from a 15-year old, good luck with living it when you get hit with the full responsibilities of adult life. It can be doable if you live in a city, but if you're in a suburb or rural location, or work in a specialized field that doesn't offer local opportunities, then you're pretty well stuck. Take my job for instance, It's 20 miles from home to work - and I'm one one of the "local boys" there. The only public transport option is a bus, train to central London, then train back out to where I work - which is massively expensive, makes a half hour journey into two hours and wouldn't get me there for the 6AM start anyway.
