Musicians in the house?

Hey guys,

It's sometimes a stereotypical connection between musicans and pot smokers.

I play guitar and play in a band, and I smoke marijuana. I guess I fit the bill. Also my drummer smokes.

So....are any of you guys/girls musicians? Explain I guess or reflect on your music or whatever.

getting high helps me get in touch with the side of me that truely appreciates music and even if im not playing anything special i still apprecite sound and notes and ahh its all good

 

I smoke the ganja and play rhytm guitar for a Spanish band which sings revolutionary songs... it does help the creative side.

i play guitar & do vocal's for a local underground metal/grunge band....& ALL of my band members smoke.actully these fuckers are the ones who introduced me to weed & there's no better feeling then being stoned out of ur ass on stage

I've been in a bar "rock band" though I am far more into metal.

Currently, I just jam with people whenever though... Anyone wanna take a trip to Nova Scotia for a jam? haha.

I play any type of guitar you got, man.. electric bass, six strings, 12 strings, whatever.

I was with a band for a few years. We'd all get so fucking stoned and then go play while on our little tours. We'd buy an ounce to last us just a couple days. Getting up in front of people just totally blazed is a wonderful feeling. Then making rocking music and seeing everyone go nuts is pretty awesome, too.

Weed lets me feel another dimension of the music.

 

im in a band, and i usually smoke up before shows. i play guitar, it doesnt usually make me any better, but i get WAY more into it and i feel connected to my bandmates and the audience, its a cool feeling.

 

I'm not currently in any sort of band/group/choir/whatever, but I sing.

The only way I noticed that it set me apart from any other singers (since I took vocal for 8 years) was the instructors. Teachers always lectured me about it, saying that I was destroying my voice/lungs. I never noticed.
I started out singing second soprano and alto, but able to cover anything from soprano to some tenor. As I got older, I mastered soprano (I started out with second/alto) and once I had that down, tenor came naturally (because I was getting older, my voice was developing more) and now I can sing anything from soprano to bass (yes, I was the ENTIRE bass section in a choir one year.. the guys sang tenor, haha).

So no, I haven't noticed any negative effects, other than having to put up with lectures from teachers who should have just shut up and taught instead of criticizing me. The best one I ever had was a guy named Roy, who used to tell me, "Hey, old Jazz singers drank whiskey and smoked cigars and the world almost shattered when they hit the high notes... I'm not going to stop you, as long as you promise you'll never end up sitting behind a computer in some fucking cubicle for the rest of your life." (He was the most inspiring music teacher I've ever known.)

 

I paly guitar keyboard and ukelele. All are really fun to play while stoned. Though the Ukelele is the most fun to paly while stoned coz its pretty easy and sounds so cool

 

i play the guitar, the bass and this flute i bought in san francisco for a buck, the flute rules when im high.

 

i am a drummer. and all of the new beats i create each day are in ways products of my marijuana consumption. i am in a band. we came up w/ some cool shit [entirley stoned] www.myspace.com/frozenjack we're new and primitave but a start.

without weed i'd be a medeocre percussionist. but in order to set up and have a professional recording i [should] be sober. to come up w/ stuff however, im completely fucked up

 

i just got real into the harmonica.

i play around with my bongos, my drum set... and my guitar...

 

hahaha i also got a harmonica a while back, cant play it for shit though

dude yea.. i smoke, play guitar, and sing.. and im in a band.. music and pot go so well together, it just desciribes everything so well... also occasional shroom or acid trips help to add creativity to ur music... anyone do much drawing or painting? thats another stereotypish kinda thing... i love to draw while high and not high, ive gotta so much better at it 2 ever since i started toking

 

i suck at most instruments, but i find the harmonica so incredibly easy and fun!

ya should give it another shot. only downside is you cant find to many tabs online. but i bought an e-book with 150 of the best rock and folk song for 15 bucks.

 

I smoke and play classical guitar. I sort of took a break from any other style for the moment. Beer and weed make Bach MUCH easier for me

 

I'm not currently in a band, but I have been. I was lead singer in a skate punk band.

I still love gettin high and hanging out with my friends and listening to music, occasionally we pull out the guitars and shit an play along to the songs we listen to...
