I have one cousin who died from binge drinking another whose likely to die from alcoholism , Ive had drunk people try to beat me to death and others pull knives on me .

anyway I dislike alcohol and drinking and drunks ,Im a ex morman and generally think that drink is the road to ruin .

how do you feel about alcohol , do you think it should be banned if drugs are banned

have you recently had a bad hangover , are you ready to sign the pledge and join the salvation army and save more people from the devils gin

well ... i don't think alcohol shoudl be banned, just as i don't think that all drugs should be banned. adults should have the right to choose what they want to do to their own bodies. now, if they do something themselves and what they have done causes harm to others they should have to pay the consequences of that action. but if you are a responsible adult who knows when to say "when" or has enough sense to stay home and not go driving or kicking up trouble, then you should be allowed to do whatever you please.

I haven't had a hangover for months and months. I used to drink dangerous amounts, every day, but after I had a blood test which showed I had signs of liver damage and for various other reasons I decided to try cutting it out. I still drink a little bit, but I believe I'm usually within the guideline consumption level.

It's fine when taken in moderation. Getting drunk all the time gets to be no fun, but every now and again, why not:)

I kinda adore alcohol if I'm honest. Like all drugs, if abused it'll land you in trouble. But the majorty of people are fairly sensible with it. I'm a pretty shy fellow and alcohol does aid in the letting down of hair. I'm sure that excuse has been offered by many a drunk as a way of reasoning with themselves, but that's the truth when it comes to me.

Plus it does have it's good points. Most famously being the sulphites of red wine being benificial for the heart. But a whole range of other issues are often bypassed by moderate drinkers vs. heavy or non-drinkers. I've even read before that it can help prevent bone fractures!

Drunks are a problem. Alcohol for the most part isn't. I reckon :)

this sounds like a simular argument to guns arent a problem people with guns are , and there are other things you can do that will get rid of shyness.

Hehe, true enough, it has a bit of a 'guns don't kill people' ring to it. But I think that's stretching it a bit. Certainly comparing the two wont help any issues surrounding them.

Also I don't really mind my shyness for the most part, it's just kinda who I am, the 'quiet' type or whatever. But every now and again I like to indulge my party loving alter ego. Have a dance, have a girl! Whathaveyou. So for me in that situation, alcohol is ideal.

Blaming alcohol on the person who pulls a knife on someone isn't a valid point. Alcohol effects different people in different ways. It's the person who is to blame for getting drunk, not the alcohol for getting them drunk. Plus, if someone is aggressive when drunk it's something wrong with that person mentally because they have that aggressive intent in their head somewhere.

Never been a drug I've enjoyed very often. In my youth it let my abger out so I decided not to do it anymore. Played a little in my twenties but then decided the comedown was not worth the fun. A couple to three socially and also to keep the whistle wet when having a dance.

Glad not to be an alcholic, seem to see quite a percentage that are at my sort of age.

Alcohol only harms you; with a gun you can harm others...

most of the violent crime in this country is related to drunk people much of the car crime is caused by drunk people .

drunks are dangerous if you were to add up the number of people killed by say legal handguns before they banned them and the number of people killed by drunks I would think far more would be killed by drunks

My grandad buys red wine and boild the alcohol out of it, cause of its benefits to the heart, as you said.

I'm the same with the shyness bit, when sober i won't talk to anyone. I have my friends, but i just don't talk. Alcohol definately helps me there.

I know i'm just 16, but i'm glad i used to drink lots when i was 13-15, cause i know where i stand now and i don't tend to overdo it now. And i only drink vodka.. no hangover :)
